“….drafting a player of this caliber could very well limit the abilities we’ve seen from the University of Colorado prospect.”
The 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay is fast approaching, and before any team is officially “on the clock”, the Cleveland Browns may have given us some signs as to who they are drafting second overall, barring any last-minute trades.
Cam Ward seems to have nailed his Pro Day with the Titans, and with the QBs that are currently on their roster, the University of Miami prospect could very well be the number one overall pick this year. The New York Giants have signed not one but TWO veteran QBs in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. My assumption would be that they are preparing to draft Travis Hunter at number three.
Thus, asking one question: Where does this leave the Browns in the middle at number two?
Last week, they were reunited with QB Joe Flacco on a 1 year 4 million dollar contract. Why didn’t they do this a year ago, after at least making the playoffs? (Your guess is as good as mine.) A few weeks prior to this, owner Jimmy Haslam publicly took fault for investing so much time & money into QB DeSean Watson. This of course backfired both on & off the field. Last month, the team extended star DE Myles Garrett 4 years, which included a $160 million contract. With that in mind, this would leave them with one of two options, assuming the Titans draft Cam Ward first: QB Shedeur Sanders or DE Abdul Carter.

I’ve ruled out Travis Hunter due to his positional choices. The Cleveland Browns CB roster is loaded with players such as Greg Newsome, Martin Emerson Jr., and Northeast Ohio’s own Denzel Ward. And Jerry Jeudy may be in his own category as the WR1, but drafting a player of this caliber could very well limit the abilities we’ve seen from the University of Colorado prospect. The New York Giants, however, have one name within their WRs & CBs worth mentioning, and that is, of course, Malik Nabers. We could even see Hunter get drafted first overall by the Titans, but I’m pretty sure you need a QB in order to play football.
This year’s QB class is by far not one of the most popular ones. With the infinite unpredictable possibilities, betting on this year’s draft is something I’d temper expectations with. I expect more of them to be taken in the later rounds, possibly by the Browns. Assuming that Travis Hunter is a WR, he is not the only one who has the potential to be a first-round draft pick.
