Week 8 IDP Start or Sit

How the heck are we to week 8 already? Absolute craziness! Your team’s have started to really show what they are and injuries continue to throw wrenches at our plans. Let’s keep the treats rolling and avoid the tricks that can derail a fun weekend of dress-up, I mean football!

I AM BACK! Thank you so much to Santa (Steve Tomasin – @dynastysanta) for pinch-hitting the past few weeks. I am thrilled to be back writing, though the vacation to celebrate my son’s birthday (last as a solo kiddo!) was much needed and a blast!

I would also like to note a slight change to my format. The third name at each position has been a rotation of start vs sit thus far (trying to have 6 starts and 6 sits total), but I am scraping that. With byes and injuries, we need to know what players to start more than which to bench, so the third name for each position will be a start (barring some crazy bad matchups)! Also, for the DB group, the first two names will remain safeties, but the third (still a start mostly!) will be a CB!

Disclaimers! In this series, we will not name the stars like Myles Garrett and Roquan Smith (unless something causes one to be a sit). I will also do my best to avoid an absurdly deep-cut former prospect that I love (if you follow the RoD PoD, you know I can tend to do this!) In this series I will be basing picks off of a balanced scoring system (like the IDP+ Invitational, which also boosts DTs and CBs to even their production out), to cover as many bases as possible! Please also note that mentions of previous finishes/points allowed comes from the IDP+ data suite. If you have a more complex league scoring system, these suggestions may serve as a baseline. For a more degenerate breakdown, jump into Discord and chat with our stellar team! Now that the intro is done, let’s introduce the week 8 start-sit options!

Start: DT B.J. Hill, Cincinnati Bengals vs Philadelphia Eagles

Hill is a great combination of recent success paired with a good matchup. Over the past 3 weeks, Hill has been DT7 PPG (3 in total points). In that same span, the Eagles have allowed the 5th most DT PPG. Dexter Lawrence (granted, a DPOY candidate), Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Shelby Harris, and Maurice Hurst have all had double-digit totals in the past two weeks. Hill struggled at the opening of the year, but 13 total tackles and 4 PBUs over the past 3 games have him on a heater. Hill is a sneakier DT1 play this week.

Sit: DT Calais Campbell, Miami Dolphins vs Arizona Cardinals
