Every week we will break down the notable players that are on the injury report for the current week and who could replace them.

Dolphins @ Cowboys

Rashad Jones (ankle) has been ruled out for this weekend’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins due to a calf injury. He missed practice all week, so it’s no surprise he wouldn’t be available on Sunday. What IS the surprise is who exactly is the person that will fill his shoes. The Dolphins traded away Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Steelers now leaving the team devoid of their top two starting safeties. Walt Akens and Steven Parker are two safeties who fill their void on Sunday. For the Cowboys, they’ll be without Xavier Woods (ankle) at free safety this week. Darian Thompson is slated to take his place in that secondary.

Jets @ Patriots

C.J. Mosley did not practice all week, still suffering the effects of the groin injury he suffered back in week one. While Albert McClellan is technically the backup to Mosley, it was fellow linebacker Blake Cashman who garnered more tackles at ILB in week 2 and should be the player for IDP purposes for New York this week.

Falcons @ Colts

Keanu Neal (groin) was limited in practice for the Falcons earlier in the week but returned to full practice on Friday making him all but certain to start this weekend. For the Colts, Darius Leonard is still in the concussion protocol and has been declared out for the Colts this Sunday. If he can’t suit up E.J. Speed and Bobby Okekere will likely split duties. Jabaal Sheard (knee) has, also, been ruled out for the Colts in week 3. Al-Quadin Muhammad will continue to start in his place in week 3 lining up opposite of all pro-pass rusher Justin Houston.

Ravens @ Chiefs

Safety Earl Thomas (not injury related or NIR) did not practice on Wednesday but returned to full practice Thursday and Friday making him good to go for Baltimore on Sunday versus the red hot Kansas City Chiefs passing attack. Starting cornerback Jimmy Smith (knee)has been ruled for another matchup. Anthony Advertte will start for him again in week 3.

Panthers @ Cardinals

Bruce Irvin has been declared out for week 3 after missing practice all week with a hamstring injury.is not expected to play on Sunday. Marquis Haynes will likely get the nod in his place. Kawaan Short (shoulder) also didn’t practice this week and has drawn the questionable designation going into this weekend’s matchup in Arizona. Vernon Butler is slated as his backup

Giants @ Buccaneers

Rookie Devin White (knee) did not practice this week and has been declared out for week 3. If he can’t go old reliable Kevin Minter will step in to take his place. Week 2 sack hero for the Bucs, Shaquil Barrett (groin/not injury related) missed practice on Friday, but it not listed on this weekend’s injury report and is good to go.

Steelers @ 49ers

Vince Williams (hamstring) has been declared out for week 3. Tyler Matakevich would likely start in WIlliams’place. Dee Ford (quadriceps) did not practice at all this week and has been declared a game-time decision for the 49ers. If he can’t go or is limited look for rookie Nick Bosa to either start in his place or work into the rotation on Sunday versus the Steelers. Safety Jaquiski Tartt was limited in practice for most of the week and is questionable to start on Sunday. If Tartt can’t go on Sunday, Antone Exum is expected to take over strong safety duties.

Rams @ Browns

Aaron Donald (back) was limited in practice all week for the Rams and has been given the questionable designation for this Sunday night’s matchup in Cleveland.  For the Browns, Christian Kirksey (chest) has officially been placed on IR . Mack Wilson will be slated to start in his place. Damarious Randall (concussion) has, also, been ruled out this week leaving Eric Murray in line to start on Sunday. Denzel Ward (hamstring) was limited in practice to start the week but did not practice on Friday drawing the questionable designation. T.J. Carrie is slated to take his place on Sunday if Ward can’t suit up.

Bears @ Redskins

Jonathan Allen (knee) returned to limited practice on Friday and is not currently listed on the team’s injury report heading into Monday night’s showdown with the Bear. Quinton Dumbar (knee) has not practiced this week for Washington leaving his availability in doubt despite not appearing on the injury report for the Redskins. His backup Fabien Moreau (ankle) limited in practice earlier this week but returned to full practice on Friday is looks to continue his role in week 3 if Dumbar misses another week.
