Start-up and redraft season is upon us and you are looking for some late-round gems. Read here who are some great late-round picks based off of IDPGUYS ADP.

If you are anything like me when drafting during start-ups and redraft leagues, then you wait longer than most to start drafting your IDP positions. The reason being is that there is so many value IDP picks that you can find late in drafts. Here I will tell you who are some of the most overlooked players at each position (DB, DL, and LB) that will be weekly starters and will allow you to load up on offense while everyone else is adding IDP’S.

Defensive Back Value IDP Picks

Justin Reid Houston Texans- DB28 (Pick 263 overall)

2019 Stats: 78 tackles (57 solo), 1 tackle for a loss, 5 passes defended, 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery

Justin Reid is being disrespected in drafts so far this season. He has been a very productive safety during his two years in the NFL. Over those seasons he has averaged 83 tackles, 1.5 for a loss, 7.5 passes defended, and 2.5 interceptions per season. After a huge rookie season, Reid took a bit of a step back in year two watching his numbers drop in every category. This was mainly due to the fact that he was playing strictly free safety. During his rookie campaign, the Texans ran a lot of 3-safety sets and Reid was moved around the formation. As of now, the Texans have Justin Reid and Eric Murray at the top of their safety depth chart. Reid is the more versatile of the two and could see more time at strong safety in 2020.

Kenny Moore II Indianapolis Colts – DB52 (313.25 overall)

2019 Stats: 61 tackles (50 solo), 4 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, 3 passes defended, 2 interceptions and 1 fumble recovery (11 games)

Kenny Moore II is the best slot cornerback in the NFL and the Colts realized this and gave him a contract extension. Moore has been terrific in coverage having only allowed 5.9 yards per reception from the slot and has shown off excellent tackling as well. In two seasons playing significant snaps he has 5 interceptions and 14 passes defended, but that is not what intrigues me the most. Over his last 13 games, which includes the 2018 playoffs, Moore has 7 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks. He is the best blitzing cornerback in the NFL and the Colts use him in this way often. Moore offers big-play ability as well as consistent tackle numbers, averaging just under 6 per game in 2019, and is almost going undrafted making him one of the best value IDP picks.

Khari Willis Indianapolis Colts – DB54 (314.50 overall)

2019 Stats: 71 tackles (53 solo), 2 tackles for a loss and 1 pass defended (14 games, 9 starts)

Clayton Geathers was injured yet again in 2019 and Khari Willis stepped in as a rookie and provided much of the same impact that Geathers did. Willis can provide volume tackle numbers though he does not offer much in coverage stats. Still playing the Clayton Geathers role in Indianapolis has potential 100 tackle upside. During his 9 starts, he averaged over his 9 starts including 24 tackles in his last three games. From a defensive back that is something that can propel your squad to a win.

Defensive Line Value IDP Picks

Stephon Tuitt Pittsburgh Steelers – DL36 (299.75 overall)

2019 Stats: 22 tackles (18 solo), 6 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks (6 games)

Stephon Tuitt was on his way to a career season in 2019 before going on IR. He was on pace for 59 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, and 9 sacks over the season. Tuitt is part of one of the most prolific pass rushes in the NFL. With the pressure off the outside with the likes of T.J. Watt, Bud Dupree, and newly drafted Alex Highsmith, to go along with interior pressure from Cameron Heyward, Tuitt faces a lot of one on one blocking tasks. Most of those he wins and can provide a big boost to your lineup as a DL2/3.

Grady Jarrett Atlanta Falcons – DL37 (303.25 overall)

2019 Stats: 69 tackles (38 solo), 12 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles

Grady Jarrett continued his ascension to the top of the defensive tackle food chain. He set career highs in tackles, tackles for a loss and sacks. The fact that he is going at DL37 is blasphemy. I get not wanting to draft defensive tackles over defensive ends but Jarrett is one of the exceptions. DeForest Buckner broke the mold and is being drafted as the DL9 right now. For comparison, Jarrett had more tackles, more tackles for a loss, and matched the sack total for Buckner. Yet Jarrett is being drafted a full 28 defensive lineman later than Buckner. If Jarrett continues to be under-valued, be sure to scoop him as one of the top value IDP picks.

Matt Ioannidis Washington Redskins – DL42 (311.25 overall)

2019 Stats: 64 tackles (42 solo), 11 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks and 1 pass defended

Matt Ioannidis is another defensive lineman coming off of a career year getting disrespected. He also put up comparable numbers to DeForest Buckner but is getting drafted over 30 defensive linemen later. The worry is that there are too many mouths to feed in Washington with the addition of Chase Young. Many are also worried that Ioannidis will slide more inside to a less productive of a position. Ioannidis played a similar position in a 3-4 DE and should provide great pressure on the interior. He will likely slide all over the defensive line as the Redskins have enough versatile bodies to keep everybody fresh. Ioannidis will likely see his tackle numbers drop but his sack numbers may increase.

Linebacker Value IDP Picks

Matt Milano Buffalo Bills – LB37 (238 overall)

2019 Stats: 101 tackles (65 solo), 7 tackles for a loss, 9 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery

Matt Milano is routinely one of the most underrated fantasy football linebackers. Last season he finished as one the better linebackers in coverage coming up with 9 passes defended while remaining a valuable run stopper with over 100 tackles. Milano and his running mate Tremaine Edmunds make up one of the best linebacker duos in the league, yet Edmunds gets all the love. Edmunds had 14 more tackles than Milano, 3 more tackles for a loss and the same amount of passes defended. Yet Tremaine Edmunds is being drafted as the LB4 and Milano is the LB37. I would let somebody else jump on Edmunds while I grab my WR2/3 or RB2 and draft Milano later and get similar production to Edmunds.

Mack Wilson Cleveland Browns – LB39 (244.25 overall)

2019 Stats: 82 tackles (57 solo), 4 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 7 passes defended, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble

Mack Wilson was surprisingly drafted after teammate Sione Takitaki but outperformed him and when Christian Kirksey went on IR, it was Wilson who became an every-down player. The Browns had enough confidence in Wilson to let both Kirksey and star Joe Schobert walk in free agency. Wilson is now the general of the defense for the Browns and will likely be the team’s tackle leader making him one of the top value IDP picks. There are 133 tackles available with the departure of Schobert and Wilson is likely to fill that role.

Danny Trevathan Chicago Bears – LB60 (318.75 overall)

2019 Stats: 70 tackles (50 solo), 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defended and 1 forced fumble (9 games)

The Bears could have let Danny Trevathan walk in free agency and given Nick Kwiatkowski the starting role and with a new contract but decided to go with the veteran. Trevathan is often injured as he was limited to 9 games once again last year but is always productive when active. He has averaged about 6.5 tackles per game over his entire career and is often active in coverage as well. Trevathan has proven that he and Roquan Smith play seamlessly next to each other. His first full season with Smith he had 102 tackles, 8 for a loss, and 2 sacks. Trevathan is literally about the last linebacker drafted though if he plays a full 16 games he is routinely a top 25-30 LB making him one of the best value IDP picks.

I am big on adding offensive talent early in my start-up and redraft leagues. With so much IDP talent out there you can load up on offense while opponents start taking IDP studs early. The drop off in talent from offensive players in comparison to defensive players is far greater. Check out our combined Offensive/IDP ADP at idpguys.org here to find your own late-round gems.
