Derek Carr torching the Chiefs, Aaron Jones bounce back, Noah Fant produces vs Eagles, James Conner busts, Chargers WR’s explode vs Vikings. Find out why.
Week 9 was one of the most random and forgetful weeks in recent memory. Did you correctly predict that three different Chargers’ tight ends would make it inside the top-10? Or that Jordan Love would outscore PATRICK MAHOMES in his first career start? Neither did I. But that’s why we love the NFL.
It’s so unpredictable on a week-to-week basis that it always has up second-guessing our thought process and what we need to change up to improve. Let’s review my Week 9 predictions and my thought process behind them, and take a look at my Week 10 predictions.
Week 9 Review
Rashod Bateman breaks out for 125 yards and a touchdown
My thought process behind this prediction was that Bateman was progressing each week and the Vikings defense wasn’t great against wide receivers. He had a solid game though catching five passes for 52 yards on a season-high eight targets. Teammate Marquise Brown got over the century mark with nine catches for 116 yards. Bateman is still getting better with each game and improving his chemistry with Lamar Jackson. The breakout is coming, and it could be against the Dolphins on TNF.
Tua Tagovailoa finishes inside the top-eight QBs.
This prediction was made before we got the news that Tua wasn’t going to play. Although I believe Tagovailoa would have smashed in this matchup against a horrible Texans team.
Taysom Hill starts and finishes as a top-five QB.
Seriously!? Another prediction failed due to the player not starting. Hill wasn’t completely ready to start but did get some action during Sunday’s game. Trevor Siemian didn’t play awful though, but I think Hill should start from here on out.
Myles Gaskin finishes inside the Top-12 RBs.
Gaskin finished 12th for RBs this week, so this was a win in the bold prediction column. Although I expected a bigger game, he still produced solid numbers. He had 34 rushing yards and a touchdown while catching six passes for 23 yards which helped him put up top-12 numbers on the week. He’s a low-to-mid RB2 for the remainder of the season.
Van Jefferson finishes as a WR2 against the Titans.
Jefferson finished a WR52 on the week, so this is a massive loss for me. Stafford and the Rams looked awful against a suspect Titans defense. Jefferson received seven targets but only caught three of them for 41 yards. Tyler Higbee and Jefferson will battle for third in the pecking order on a weekly basis, so it’ll be hard to trust Jefferson most weeks.
Week 10 Bold Predictions
Aaron Jones bounces back with 125 total yards and a touchdown
Aaron Jones put up a dud last week against the Chiefs. This was mainly due to Jordan Love‘s first start and the lack of touches overall. He failed to record a catch and saw AJ Dillon get more work. I believe things to revert to normalcy against the Seahawks. Seattle is giving up the fourth-most points to running backs and with Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers back, this contest will be a high-scoring affair. He has top-three upside in this game.
James Conner doesn’t finish inside the top-20 this week
Conner is one of the hottest running backs in the NFL right now. Chase Edmonds also got hurt last game and Conner will be the main back now for Arizona. Before the last game, Conner was essentially 2020 Todd Gurley. Not putting up many yards but scoring touchdowns.
If those touchdowns stop coming, it could be a problem. The Panthers are 7th against the opposing running backs and the offense is ravaged with injuries. This could be a game where the Cardinals fail to move the ball and Conner could suffer for it.
Derek Carr throws for 350 yards and 2 touchdowns
Carr didn’t play his best game against the Giants last week but the Chiefs are a get-right spot for him. Last year, Carr threw for 622 yards and six touchdowns while throwing only two interceptions. The Chiefs’ defense is terrible, giving up the second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks on the season. Look for Carr to put up some great numbers in what should be a high-scoring contest.
Mike Williams and Keenan Allen go over 100 yards and a touchdown
Mike Williams hasn’t been playing well for the past few contests. I don’t believe he is entirely healthy though. The Vikings defense is a cure-all scenario though. They’re giving up the seventh-most fantasy points to wide receivers. So both Williams and Allen should eat this game. Look for both of them to go over the century mark and each grab a touchdown in this game.
Noah Fant finds the endzone and finishes as a top-6 TE
The Eagles are a fantastic matchup for tight ends. They are currently giving up roughly 11.5 fantasy points per game to tight ends on the year. Fant is off the COVID-19 list and should be ready to roll on Sunday. The presence of Jerry Jeudy affects Courtland Sutton more than Noah Fant, so don’t be too worried about his targets. Fant is a great start this week for your fantasy teams.
Final Thoughts
Barring any setbacks, these players should all play this week, so let’s see how these predictions play out. The NFL is a wild game and trying to predict what’ll happen is a fun yet difficult thing to do. Let’s hope these players all produce for your fantasy teams this week. Good Luck!
