Joseph Ossai Likely To Miss Rookie Season

Cincinnati Bengals Rookie Joseph Ossai suffered a torn meniscus and may end up missing his entire rookie season.

Joseph Ossai was rather impressive in his first preseason game with one sack and five quarterback pressures against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ossai left the preseason game in the third quarter with a wrist injury, but clearly injured more than just his wrist. He should have surgery on a torn meniscus sometime this week and is expected to miss his entire rookie season.

The Bengals drafted Ossai in the third round, 69th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He may miss his entire rookie season, and many fantasy managers are wondering what they should do. Ossai is still a solid dynasty hold and, if you have an available IR spot, go ahead and put him in one of those.

In redraft leagues, you should drop Ossai and forget about him in 2021. It’s never easy to lose a player for the season, and it definitely hurts managers who drafted him.

Are you asking yourselves what to do and what this means? Well, you can probably expect Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard to lead the defensive end group with snaps and IDP value.

Ossai had quite a bit of hype after being selected by Cincinnati. Looking like a steal in the third round, Ossai was having a strong training camp until this injury. Fantasy managers will now have to wait until next season to see what he can really do.
