IDP Rookie Watch: Rookie Roundup Week 10

As we enter the playoff stretch, here are some IDP rookies that can help you make the playoffs and win a fantasy championship.

Jaire Alexander

The Green Bay Packers rookie cornerback has been incredible of late. Over his last four games, Alexander has 17 tackles and eight passes defended, including five tackles and two passes defended against the Miami Dolphins in week 10. On the season, Alexander 35 tackles, 0.5 sacks, one interception, and nine passes defended. PFF has given him the top rookie cornerback grade as well.

Alexander’s numbers of late are been worthy of starts in combined defensive back leagues, let alone in leagues that require cornerbacks. Alexander should be a starter in cornerback leagues and should be rostered in all IDP leagues.

Josh Jackson

Alexander’s rookie teammate, cornerback Josh Jones, also had a great game against the Dolphins. With fellow cornerback Kevin King nursing a hamstring injury and Kentrell Brice leaving the game with an ankle injury, Jackson saw 100% of the snaps. He accumulated seven tackles, his career high.

With King‘s and Brice’s health still in question, Jackson should continue to see high snap counts going forward. If this is the case, he is a good fill-in in cornerback leagues. Jackson will be targeted often playing alongside Alexander, who has turned himself into a very respectable cornerback.

Maurice Hurst

I recently wrote about the Oakland Raiders rookie defensive tackle. Hurst has been the Raiders best rookie and best pass rusher this season. Against the Los Angeles Chargers in week 10, Hurst tallied four tackles and one sack. On the season, Hurst has 21 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, and three passes defended.

The Raiders defense is bad, but Hurst has been the one bright spot. While he has not been overly productive, Hurst has shown flashes. Hurst should only be rostered in dynasty leagues that require defensive tackles. If you are stashing him, hold him and wait for him to explode in the coming seasons.

Foye Oluokun

Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker Foye Oluokun has led Falcons linebackers in snap share in each of the last two weeks. He has played in over 50% of the snaps in the last five games. Against the Cleveland Browns in week 10, Oluokun played in 85% of the Falcons defensive snaps, his highest to date. Unfortunately, that only led to three tackles.

The four previous games to week 10, however, Oluokun had five or more tackles in each. So, while week 10 was disappointing, the fact that Oluokun saw 85% of the defensive snaps is encouraging. Oluokun is startable in all formats if he continues to see a high snap share.

Donte Jackson

This is apparently the rookie cornerback article. Carolina Panthers rookie cornerback Donte Jackson is having a quietly great season. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, Jackson accrued four tackles and two tackles for loss. On the season, Jackson has 41 tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, four interceptions, and seven passes defended.

Like Alexander, Jackson is startable in all leagues that require cornerbacks. He is even startable as a defensive back if needed in all leagues. Jackson could be a sneaky pickup that can help you win championships.
