The bye weeks are beginning, so who are the stocks you should invest in for your Devy IDP Portfolios? I’m here to help maximize your return!

The 2021 college football season is rolling right along and Week 5 is now in the books. Maybe you need to know which players you can move for a high return. I’m here to help you diversify your fantasy portfolios and get the maximum return on your investments. Each week I’ll give you three-player stocks that are trending up or three that are trending down. The IDP Devy Stock Market takes a closer look at what stocks you should invest in.

IDP Devy Investments

Javon Solomon, DE, Troy

My first IDP devy stock market buy is defensive end Javon Solomon of the Troy Trojans. The redshirt sophomore is off to a blazing start to the season. Through five games played so far this season, he has recorded 21 tackles, 13 solos, 10.5 TFLs, 6.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery. The 6.5 sacks currently lead the nation and the 10.5 TFLs lead the Sun Belt Conference. Solomon is on pace to set or has set career highs across the board.

Solomon is one of the best pass rushers in the country. Three weeks ago he won Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors with a 9 tackle, 5 TFL, and 3.5 sack performance on the road versus Southern Mississippi. The following week on the road versus the University of Louisiana-Monroe, Solomon would shine again with a seven tackle, 3.5 TFL, two-sack performance. Even last week in a big step up in competition versus South Carolina, Solomon recorded another sack.

Solomon is currently rostered in only 26% of Fantrax leagues, which is up a whopping 19.8% from last week. So if you’re looking for a player that can help you in the sack department, then Solomon is a great stock option to invest in. Solomon is a great IDP devy or Campus to Canton play, but it remains to be seen what his NFL outlook will be. He won’t be draft-eligible until 2023 and will likely stay through his senior season. So fantasy managers have plenty of time to assess his NFL potential.

D’Marco Jackson, LB, App State

Next on my IDP Devy stock market investment list is senior linebacker, D’Marco Jackson of the Appalachian State Mountaineers. The preseason Sun Belt Conference 1st-team honoree has been leading the way for the Mountaineer defense all season.

Through five games played this season, Jackson has recorded 54 tackles (10.8 per game), 30 being solo, 10 TFLs, 4 sacks, 5 QB hits, 1 interception, and 2 PBUs. When you watch him play it’s easy to see why he was named first-team by the coaches and media.

Last week on the road versus Georgia State, Jackson dominated the Panthers, with a 9 tackle, 6 solos, 2 TFL, 1 sack, and 1 interception game. So far this season he leads the Sun Belt Conference in tackles and ranks third nationally. Jackson is averaging over ten plus tackles per game and has had three games with at least ten plus. He has already surpassed his personal best in both TFLs and sacks, and barring an injury he will shatter his single-season tackle total mark.

Rostership

In Fantrax leagues, Jackson is rostered in 62%, which is up 22.7% from the previous week. He is averaging just over 22 fantasy points per game. So if you need an upgrade at the position this is a stock you should be investing in. Keep in mind that App. State is on a bye this week, so please adjust for that if you decide to pick him up. Jackson is one of the more complete linebackers in IDP devy and with the impressive year he’s putting together, he’ll be on the NFL’s radar.

Despite being rostered in two-thirds of leagues, go check to see if he’s available and make the investment. I did that today and added him to a couple of my Campus to Canton portfolios. Finding a stock yielding this high of return this deep into the season doesn’t happen often. A low-risk investment that is producing high returns is exactly what you’re looking for when trying to diversify your IDP devy portfolios.

Bryce Cosby, S, Ball State

Last on my IDP Devy stock market list of buys, is super senior Bryce Cosby of the Ball State Cardinals. Cosby is one of the most experienced safeties in the country. Thus he has made 43 career starts, including 31 straight. For the season he has recorded 33 tackles, 24 being solo, five TFLs, two sacks, and one interception in five games played. He currently has 282 career tackles which rank 2nd in the MAC among all active players.

Crosby just isn’t feasting on the weaker MAC offenses, as in week 2 on the road at Penn State, he balled out with an 11 tackle, eight being solo, two TFL, one sack performance. As you can see the stage doesn’t get too big for him. So far in 49 career games played, Cosby has put together quite the resume. He has career totals of 282 tackles, 185 being solos, 16 TFLs, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 9 interceptions, and 23 PBUs.

Outlook

If you’re in dire need of help at the defensive back position due to the bye week dilemmas, then Cosby is an option you’ll want to invest in. Cosby is available almost everywhere, as he is rostered in just 19% of Fantrax leagues, which is an 8% increase from last week. While there is a ton to like about Cosby’s game, he is just an IDP devy option.

At 5’10”/188 lbs he has less than desirable size by NFL standards. Size isn’t everything but it’s worth noting, making Cosby’s decision to use the extra of eligibility a smart move on his part.
