Dynasty Football: Three Players to Sell After Free Agency

Free agency changes everything. New faces in new places can create a selling opportunity in dynasty football. Who can you sell high?

Free Agency heavily affects Dynasty football. All in all, this has been the craziest off-season in quite some time. A TON of stars have shifted to new teams. With that being said, here are three sell-high players who can become fantasy relevant again and make an impact on their new teams?

1. Allen Robinson

Allen Robinson — the receiver with the worst luck. No one has ever used “a good quarterback” and “Allen Robinson” together in the same sentence, unless in a negative manner. Now, all that has changed.

After the worst year of his career, finishing as the WR76 on a ppg basis with just 38 receptions and 410 receiving yards, Robinson is headed to the defending Super Bowl Champions Los Angeles Rams. He is now the WR2 behind Cooper Kupp. Robinson can thrive off that, just like Robert Woods did. Before Woods tore his ACL in practice, he was the WR12 through week 9. Kupp was the WR1.

Stafford and the high-powered offense are more than capable of producing two WR1s and Robinson has proved himself with mediocre quarterback play from guys like Blake Bortles, Mitchell Trubisky, and Nick Foles.

Dynasty managers should be thrilled if they are trying to contend right away. Furthermore, Allen Robinson is a buy-now/sell-high candidate in dynasty football. Rebuilding teams will look to add picks and a contending team can trade for a future WR1.

2. JuJu Smith-Schuster

In 2018, Smith-Schuster was the WR9 on a PPG basis and the overall WR8. Since then, he has not seen a top 24 finish in two years. The Kansas City Chiefs agreed to terms with Smith-Schuster on a one-year deal. Now, with Patrick Mahomes as the quarterback and Tyreek Hill traded to the Dolphins, Smith-Schuster is the WR1 in KC.

Travis Kelce is the number one option on the team, and with Hill being traded, Smith-Schuster’s value has increased.

Now, Smith-Schuster is with the team that scored the third-most points in 2021. The Chiefs also had the third-most yards per game in 2021. Thirdly, a Patrick Mahomes-led offense puts up a lot of points.

With no Tyreek Hill, Smith-Schuster will take over the WR1 role. The talent is there for him and, along with Andy Reid calling plays, the 2022 season will be a hopeful one for Smith-Schuster. At 25 years old, Smith-Schuster will now reset his career. This makes him an extremely sell-high candidate. Nonetheless, Smith-Schuster can be sold for a late 2022 first-round pick.

3. Amari Cooper

The Cleveland Browns mess up A LOT. To continue, it only took them four years to realize that Baker Mayfield is not the option at quarterback. Furthermore, the Browns went and traded for Deshaun Watson, despite the past sexual allegations. Cleveland also managed to acquire Amari Cooper via trade from the Dallas Cowboys.

Cooper, the former first-round pick, finds himself as WR1 for the Cleveland Browns. A plethora of targets will come his way — the Browns also released Jarvis Landry two weeks ago. Cooper is a proven receiver. Honestly, the fantasy outlook has not been well, but he has produced five 1,000 yard seasons in his seven-year career.

The Browns’ receiving room consists of Anthony Schwartz, Jakeem Grant, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Ja’Marcus Bradley, and Ryan Switzer. Cooper has more receptions than all of these receivers combined. The Deshaun Watson and Amari Cooper connection will be special and dynasty managers should look to sell Cooper with a high price tag to a contending team.

Final thoughts

In addition, the fantasy community’s memory is very well-knit. If a player has an off-year, he is quickly written off and forgotten about. Personally, a year or two of bad play or injuries should not take away how good a player really is.

For example, players such as Michael Thomas and Saquon Barkley have quickly been forgotten. Those two players can easily finish top five in their positions if they stay healthy for a full season.

All in all, this is for the three written about in this article. One or two bad years should not define someone. It is how a player responds to adversity.
