Andrew Thomas (LT) New York Giants
Injury: Lisfranc InjuryNFL Injuries
Injury Date: 10/13/2024
Expected Recovery Time: 8-10 months
Player(s) to Target: OLB Josh Sweat, LB Zack Baun
The New York Giants offensive line has been a revelation so far this season. They have quickly ascended from one of the historically worst O-lines in the league to an above-average group. Coaching and personnel changes have played a major role, but health has been the key to holding this unit together. The Giants have been one of the few teams to have the same five players play every snap on the O-line.
Well, this is all about to change. Not only did the offensive line suffer an injury, but it was an injury to the unit’s best player, at the most important position. Star LT Andrew Thomas, despite playing the entire game, at some point injured his foot. He was also seen hobbling around near the end of the game and received an MRI on his foot on Monday this week. After getting a few medical specialist opinions, the decision was made for him to have surgery and end his season.

A Lisfranc injury refers to an injury in the midfoot. Either a ligament of the midfoot is torn, a bone in the midfoot is broken, or there is a combination of both. With the stability of the foot compromised, this requires a surgical procedure to fix. This injury comes with a lengthy 8-10 month recovery timeline. Thomas now has his sights set on the 2025 season for a comeback.
Although the Eagles pass rush has looked like a shell of itself this season, this injury creates a MASSIVE opportunity. The Giants do not have a proven commodity as a backup LT and this will likely result in a jumbling of what has been a solid unit. Look for OLB Josh Sweat to have some sack opportunities from his edge rusher position. LB Zack Braun is also a guy to potentially target, as he has been flying around the field all season. Braun leads the team in tackles and is tied for the team lead in sacks.
