IDP Waiver Wire here!
Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs
By Steve Hungarter (@IDPHunter)
The score was 19-8 as the Kansas City Chiefs (at home) defeated the visiting Denver Broncos. The Chiefs extend their win streak.
The Broncos, who own the league’s worst defense, allow this one to get away from them by multiple scores. They held the Chiefs to scoring field goals instead of touchdowns (only gave up one TD) but still, the points against total continue to pile up against them this season. Not only do the defenses continue to let points get scored on, but this is also another Sean Payton loss. Both things have been long documented and have not changed this week.

It’s not all bad for the Broncos. The silver lining here would be that the Redzone defense surprisingly held up. True the Chiefs did move the ball down the field, but several drives led to field goals and overall just gave up 19 points.
Patrick Surtain II had a strip fumble called back, an illegal blindside wiped this play away but the effort was there, and if you were watching the game you could see the effort. It’s nice seeing these players not giving up on the play and this was encouraging.
The dynamic linebacker duo was as advertised. Alex Singleton (9 solos, one assist) and Josey Jewell (7 solos and 2 assists) are interchangeable in your lineups and will continue to have these stats all season.
Justin Simmons‘s interception was just what managers needed as he picked off Patrick Mahomes in the end zone. Believe it or not, this was significant as the Broncos’ DST in the red zone has now held their opponents without a touchdown on nine of ten last attempts. This stat dates back to Week 4.

Zach Allen (6% rostered) does not interest me but when compared to his positional group per PFF, you will see that he is sixth in sacks (3) and tied for first in forced fumbles (1) He is going to give you four tackle weeks like this one, and completely disappear at times despite his strong snap percentage.
Damarri Mathis (2%) is not good, but he will continue to get picked on and that’s what you want in cornerback-required leagues.
Looking for DBs? Ja’Quan McMillian (0%) has had 17 tackles in the last three games. Not an ideal option but it’s the bye weeks and both these names get picked on.

The defense looked good in this one. The only touchdown they gave up, was on a shorter field. Chiefs were 2:1 on interceptions and recovered a fumble.
Chris Jones produced a sack and achieved 4 tackles, as predicted he remains one of the most consistent players not just on this team, but the whole league. To put it into perspective, I like to sort players by their position stats (as opposed to actual seasonal stats) When doing that you will see, that Jones’s seven sacks are ranked number one amongst defensive tackles.
Kudos to you, if you had Drue Tranquill starting this week. As we said, Nick Bolton was nursed back to health and the team played safe with him. This totally benefited Tranquill as you see with his nice stat line, he will have no value when Bolton ramps up his snaps next week so enjoy him for now, his sack was nice to see.
In the same vein as above, Willie Gay was productive too. He led the team in tackles not much else but that’s all he needed to do. It is clear how the team planned to utilize both players without Bolton as both have different roles. Just like the above, I would not start either guy with a healthy Bolton moving forward.
George Karlaftis is credited on PFF as having four hurries and a half dack. He continues to get wins on the line of scrimmage despite coming back from injury.
Don’t look now but Justin Reid now has two back-to-back great games. With both a sack and an INT, this one was awesome. I almost wanted to put him in the waiver portion, but we know this with the case of Justin Reid he is hit or miss every other game or two. While it was nice seeing them, he is a bye-week filler player at this point in his career.
IDP Waiver Wire Kansas City Chiefs
Michael Danna (4%) did not have much of a game despite playing 90% of the snaps, but he’s a starter and available everywhere but the deepest of leagues.
For managers, scouting for players during the bye week this is your guy now. With upcoming games against the Chargers, Broncos (again), Dolphins, and Eagles after the bye week, all of those games can potentially be a shoot-out which will give him ample opportunities to improve on his stats. He has an impressive 14.1% win rate, which is above average for defensive linemen. Look above at his snap share, you won’t generally see a player with this pedigree that is available in league formats.
Trent McDuffie (6%) being on waivers is almost criminal. First, he the better DB to own due to his slot position he achieves big plays more than the IDP managers’ favorite son, L’Jarius Sneed, does. Second, the forced fumble he had in this game was pure poetry. Take a waiver shot just for impact playability alone. Remember I said I like to compile stats by position because positionally it gives me insight? Well in doing so, you will find Mcduffie’s 25 tackles ranks him 5th at his position, while L’Jarius Sneed‘s 23 tackles only rank 10th. They are both good but make sure you are the owner who has the right one.
For deeper league considerations, Charles Omenihu (0%) is eligible to come off the suspension list after six games.
Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans (LONDON)

The pass rush was on fire, and only getting stronger
Ascending DT Justin Madubuike and veteran free agent signings (late signings) Jadeveon Clowney and Kyle Van Noy went off against the Titans. Five sacks and 21 pressures for the trio say all that needs to be said.
Starting edge rushers (yes, plural) Odafe Oweh and David Ojabo are expected to be back soon (most likely this week for Oweh), which would give a massive boost. Third rusher Tyus Bowser also should be back from injury soon. The Ravens rushers can be started in most matchups, and most rushers can against this atrocious Titans OL, especially if Malik Willis or Will Levis take over for an injured Ryan Tannehill (all three have loved taking sacks throughout collegiate and/or professional careers).
The DB room is still kind of a mess
Kyle Hamilton was ejected early on, keeping his disappointing season going. Marcus Williams suffered a hamstring injury in his first game back from the pectoral injury earlier in the season. Geno Stone played well again in relief and is a top add at DB, but the disappointments of Williams and Hamilton are the most notable takeaways.
The LBs are king
Roquan Smith and Patrick Queen showed once again that they are both top-tier plays every week. Both should be featured in the “start your studs” category most weeks, barring horrible matchups.
IDP Waiver Wire Baltimore Ravens
If Justin Madubuike is available in DT leagues, he needs to be grabbed. In deeper DL leagues, he is also a great pickup.
Geno Stone may have been dropped in some leagues with Marcus Williams’ return. Since it was a short-lived return, Stone should still see full-time play, which he has been very good in.
Any of the top EDGE players should be picked up. Injured Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo, and Tyus Bowser are great plays when they return to their full health, while Jadeveon Clowney is top 10 in pressures in the league (per PFF).

Disappointing show from the one-off position stars
Jeffery Simmons and Roger McCreary each had one of their worst statistical outputs of the year, combining for 3 tackles. The DT and CB are still great weekly starts in leagues that require those positions while being solid starts for DL and DB leagues, but they do have a low floor. McCreary appeared to spy on Lamar Jackson and played well, but did only play 65% of snaps (the previous season’s low was 83%) which should be monitored.
The rest of the back 7 studs played like studs
Linebackers Azeez Al-Shaair and Jack Gibbens each had double-digit tackles, while safeties Kevin Byard and Amani Hooker were both close to that mark. The quartet is solid to great starts in every matchup, even with Byard not showing his ball-hawking ability and Gibbens not eclipsing 80% of snaps.
The pass rush (mostly) disappoints
Harold Landry finally recorded his second sack (first in Week 2), but the rest of the rush was quiet for most of the day. Lamar Jackson is difficult to sack, but the rush barely pressured him too, with 15 total on the day from DL/EDGE players. Denico Autry has cooled off, Landry does not look like his pre-injury self, and Arden Key is inconsistent making it difficult for any of the trio to break through and make plays.
IDP Waiver Wire Tennessee Titans
Harold Landry may be turning a corner after recording a sack in this game. With the bye week upcoming, he has a chance to get healthier, so may be closer to the projected breakout star he was last season. The disappointing start to the year may have him on waivers.
Jaleel Johnson had his highest snap total of the season, taking snaps from Naquan Jones. Kyle Peko still paced the non-Simmons DTs again but has not seen his time increase over the past few weeks.
Washington Commanders at Atlanta Falcons

After weeks of struggling, rookie Emmanuel Forbes was benched in favor of Danny Johnson. Johnson didn’t exactly light up the fantasy scoreboard with his four tackles and one pass deflection. It remains to be seen how long this demotion will last for Forbes, but it’s best to avoid these two as streaming options for now.
Kendall Fuller had a huge day with a season-high 9 solo tackles, 2 pass deflections, and 1 interception. The production was a bit of a surprise given how poor Atlanta’s passing attack was up until this past weekend. The Giants are currently giving up the most points to cornerbacks, making Fuller a big streaming option this week. Going forward, he is usually worth weekly streaming consideration.
Cody Barton and Kamren Curl were business as usual against the Falcons. Barton racked up 14 total tackles, and Curl grabbed 11 tackles and three pass deflections. These two have been studs all season and next week’s game against the Giants should be no exception. Keep them in your starting lineups with full confidence.
Chase Young came up empty-handed in this one. Sure he had plenty of pressures but those don’t equal fantasy points. With his strong play so far this season there is no need to panic over a down week. The Giants offer a very favorable matchup and should help get Young back into the sack column if he turns those pressures into actual sacks.
Montez Sweat was forced out of the game with a thumb injury. His progress will need to be monitored throughout the week to see if he will suit up for the division game against the Giants.
IDP Waiver Wire Washington Commanders
Casey Toohill registered two sacks against Atlanta but he only played 18 snaps. Don’t get caught chasing points, leave him on the waiver wire.
Kendall Fuller is worth streaming consideration after his big performance and favorable upcoming matchup.
Percy Butler filled in for Darrick Forrest but only managed three tackles despite playing 100% of the snaps. There are better streaming options out there for fantasy.
Atlanta Falcons IDP Stats, Snap Counts, and Scores
wpDataTable with provided ID not found!IDP Takeaways Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons collected five sacks against Washington’s porous offensive line. Arnold Ebiketie and Bud Dupree each registered 1.5 sacks but this has more to do with the game being a great matchup than an endorsement to add them to your team. The important thing to remember is to always start the edge rushers going against Washington. They will turn back into pumpkins next week against Tampa Bay.
Calais Campbell deserves some recognition for registering his 100th career sack. It’s a huge accomplishment, but don’t expect many more this season.
Kaden Elliss is turning into a bit of a disappointment with his mediocre tackle numbers and lack of sacks. Just four solo tackles aren’t going to cut it for fantasy managers. With all the byes in Week 7, you almost have to start him one more week, but if he doesn’t start producing he may be better sent to the waiver wire in swallow and medium leagues. He still has value in deeper leagues.
IDP Waiver Wire Atlanta Falcons
(Nate) Nathan Landman could be a solid bye-week replacement at linebacker. Check your waivers to see if he is available.
There aren’t many waiver options for Atlanta, but if you are really desperate, Kyle Pitts did record a solo tackle on 0% of the defensive snaps.

Let’s dive into these snap counts. We saw Cinderella story UDFA LB Ivan Pace Jr. plummet to just 18% of the snaps, with the player he beat out for the “LB2” job, Brian Asamoah, right behind him at 11%. The takeaway is that “safety” Josh Metellus is essentially the LB2 in Brian Flores’s defensive scheme. With 89% of the snaps played, he is a true IDP Swiss army knife and along with Camryn Bynum, a delightful fantasy IDP surprise this year.
Marcus Davenport, after giving us a sliver of false hope last week, got injured again and left having only played 26% of the snaps and not recording a stat. As much as I dislike D.J. Wonnum as an actual NFL talent, he can’t be ignored for IDP. However, be ready for solid games such as this to go along with disappearing acts. His weekly production will continue to be lumpy with or without Davenport in the lineup.
Jordan Hicks is rapidly regaining his status as a weekly auto-start in any IDP league size or format. Ditto for Danielle Hunter.
IDP Waiver Wire Minnesota Vikings
We told you last week to “stash” Josh Metellus but now it is full Defcon 5 and he is a must-add this week.
Both Ivan Pace and Brian Asamoah can remain on the waiver wire.
D.J. Wonnum should be added in deeper leagues starting 3-4 DLs. Also, keep an eye on DE/edge Patrick Jones who played 53% of the snaps with Davenport going down.

Time for me to capitulate to the T.J. Edwards truthers. I was #TeamTremaine and thought Tremaine Edmunds would be the pass-rushing specialist of this duo. But the IDP fantasy ceiling does in fact belong to Edwards with two sacks in the past two games plus he’s racking up solos. Edmunds is still giving you a solid tackle floor but more with assists, unfortunately. Edmunds is also playing more snaps but the production is not coming with that slight advantage.
Jaquan Brisker finally gives us a usable fantasy game with 0.5 sacks and a forced fumble for some big splash plays. Let’s hope he can continue this momentum but this was also a smash matchup as the Vikings give up the second most IDP fantasy points to safeties. Proceed with cautious optimism.
IDP Waiver Wire Chicago Bears
In DT-required leagues, Justin Jones is dominating the interior snaps played. He is a Hail Mary option pretty much every week but with all of the bye weeks upcoming he could be usable in a favorable matchup.
Jack Sanborn continues to tease us with efficient IDP fantasy production on limited snaps. I have moved on from him in most of even my deeper dynasty leagues but he is one injury away from continuing the Cinderella story. I’d leave him on waivers still for now. It’s just a bad bet on those snap percentages.
