The 2024 NFL Season is here! Football is back, so that means fantasy is back, too! Let’s kick off your IDP season with some Week 1 IDP Start Sit options for Week 1!
In the words of my dear friend (and Ride or Dynasty Host) JJ Wenner (@JJWenner); it is time to pull up a chair! In 2024 I will be writing your weekly IDP+ Start-Sit article, where we will go through 3 names at each position (DT, DE, LB, DB)! This week, with no in-season data to go off of, we start with 2 names at each. In this series, we will not name the stars like Myles Garrett and Roquan Smith (unless something causes one to be a sit). I will also do my best to avoid an absurdly deep-cut former prospect that I love (if you follow the RoD PoD, you know I tend to do this!)
In this series I will be basing picks off of a balanced scoring system, to cover as many bases as possible! Please also note that mentions of previous finishes/points allowed come from the IDP+ data suite. If you have a more complex league scoring system, these suggestions may serve as a baseline. Start: DT Zach Allen, Denver Broncos at Seattle Seahawks
Allen was a fantasy darling coming into 2023, but did not live up to the top DT hype. This seems to be more of a Bronco issue than with Allen though, who was still solid on the field. To lead off 2024 Allen faces a weak interior OL in Seattle. The Seahawks were a top-12 DT matchup last season when Geno Smith faced the 7th most pressures league-wide. Smith is an aggressive passer who will stand against pressure to find a throw, which leads to more interior sack opportunities. Enter Allen, who can make a weak iOL pay here while being a stout run-defender. Allen is IDP+’s 20th-rated DT for the season, which he has a spectacular chance of beating this week.
