From The Football Team to the Commanders, (I still like Football Team better) Washington is surrounded by distractions from its owner, Dan Snyder. With an overall pretty weak roster, it will be an uphill battle. Is there any worthy fantasy or IDP options?
Offense
Quarterback
Carson Wentz
Carson Wentz is arguably a sizeable step-up for the Commanders at the quarterback position. Providing a much higher floor for fantasy managers than Heinicke. I have personally snagged him in a super-flex league or two as a QB3 for my squad(s). He will make for a better bye week fill-in than a fantasy starter. @Harding_3 9/8
Taylor Heinicke
Sam Howell
Sam Howell has the easiest path to snaps out of all of the rookie QBs this year. Even if Carson Wentz stays healthy, he’ll have a short leash. Howell is my favorite rookie QB for redraft and a top-3 dynasty rookie QB from this year’s class. @dynastysanta 8/7
Cole Kelley
Running Back
Antonio Gibson
There has been a healthy amount of doubt regarding Antonio Gibson’s position in the Commanders lineup when Robinson returns. I feel he can still maintain a flex-worthy role in this offense. He has never been a bad running back, finishing at around RB12-13 in his first two seasons as a pro. I look for him to slip more into the passing game and get his value in the open field this year. Don’t sleep on him! @Harding_3 9/8
J.D. McKissic
Brian Robinson
Jonathan Williams
Jaret Patterson
Reggie Bonnafon
Wide Receiver
Terry McLaurin
The 2019 third round pick for the Commanders has yet to have a good opportunity to shine. McLaurin is a guy I have typically avoided in the past. Though this year looks much different as far as potential goes for this Washington offense as a whole. I think McLaurin can produce similarly to a 2021 Michael Pittman for Carson Wentz. At cost, he should provide a nice return in, what will be, his best season by far. @Harding_3 9/8
Jahan Dotson
Curtis Samuel
Curtis Samuel is a sleeper option that should prove to be a useful ‘gadget’ player, if you will, for this offense. Don’t expect him to provide any stability in your lineup. But given the right matchup, he will make for a nice fill-in or streamer throughout the season. @Harding_3 9/8
Cam Sims
Dyami Brown
Alex Erickson
Dax Milne
Tight End
Logan Thomas
If Logan Thomas can stay healthy this season, he will see lots of end-zone opportunities this year. He was one of Heinicke’s favorite red-zone target when he was on the field, scoring a touchdown in three of his five 2021 games played. @Harding_3 9/8
John Bates
The Logan Thomas experience is rapidly coming to an end due to age and injuries. It was a great story, but it is John Bates’s turn now. Give me Bates over Thomas in both redraft and dynasty. @dynastysanta 8/7
