Find success this weekend with the NFL Week 6 Start/Sit list for the offensive side of the ball!
After another injury-riddled week of NFL action, Week 6 will bring another unique hurdle to the fantasy football landscape. Four teams will have a BYE in Week 6; Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and San Francisco 49ers! Check out this week’s start/sit Week 6 offense edition!
I have a bad habit of letting pop songs get stuck in my head and with the Bye weeks looming, a certain pop song involving the word “Bye” has infiltrated my subconscious.
“Don’t want to be a fool for you…”
A major change that was implemented for the current season was that the NFL extended the season by one additional week. This change will make the BYE weeks run through week 14; it is of the utmost importance that you get familiar with the teams that have upcoming bye weeks so you can anticipate making adjustments and gain an edge in all aspects of the game.
“Just another player in your game for two…”
It would be an optimal strategy to be thinking 2-3 weeks ahead in regard to trade offers and managing the free agency.
“You may hate me, but it ain’t no lie”… sorry, back to football and the injury landscape from week 5
Navigating bye weeks and injuries will make the start-worthy options look a little different for the next several weeks. The most notable injuries of the previous week included Russell Wilson, Saquon Barkley, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and George Kittle. No need to tilt, the Week 6 start/sit list is here to help you optimize your lineup!
“Baby, bye, bye, bye…”
Ok, I’m done. Let’s now review the concepts of how the start/sit list is organized and weekly reminders for setting optimal lineups!
The “Trust, If You Must, and Bust” System:
“Trust” = Strong start, a player who should be started in all formats!
“If You Must” = Weak start, a player who is good enough to be a starter, but faces a tough matchup or holds an unclear opportunity in a good offense. Some caution should be used while the risk is recognized, as this is often league format dependent.
If you play in a shallow league, I would lean towards benching this player if you have a decent replacement option. In a deep league, I would lean towards starting, since the options may be more scarce. Either way, expectations should be managed.
“Bust” = Keep on your bench, at least for now. These players should be avoided since stronger options at the relative position should be considered first. These are players who fit into one of the following categories:
- A player in a tough matchup or currently holds ambiguous weekly opportunities in the offense.
- A strong bench stash for season-long purposes but currently in a “wait and see” period. Wait and see if their role expands for starter caliber consideration. For example, this type of player may be a strong backup RB behind a stud in an elite offense or could be in line for a big workload if the starter misses time.
- Currently lacking a clear offensive opportunity in either a projected good or bad offense
- Is too volatile on a week-to-week basis. There is no need to play boom or bust type players if you can help it.
Weekly Start/Sit Decision Reminders
