There are players that live up to the hype from your draft day, and then there are those who flop. You have to roll the dice, and sometimes, you get the gem. Here are three overvalued and undervalued Tight Ends for your 2024 Redraft Season.

Overvalued TEs

Mark Andrews – Baltimore Ravens

No doubt that Andrews is very good when he is on the field. You can’t count on him though. Y’all know the saying: Availability is the best Ability. Andrews falls way short in this category. He has played all games just twice in his six-year career. Andrews has missed 12 games and parts of many others over the last five seasons. Last year, he missed the final seven games of the season, which did include your playoffs.

Andrews has a ranking of #3 on FantasyPros.com and an ADP of #4 on MyFantasyLeague.com. He has ranked 4th or higher just twice in his six years. 2019 gave him a #4 season-end rank and 2022 gave him the #1 rank. There are at least six TEs you might consider over Andrews, and you should be able to get them a bit later.

T.J. Hockenson – Minnesota Vikings

Hockenson tore his ACL and MCL on Christmas Eve 2023. The doctors put off surgery for 36 days to let the MCL heal a bit. Do you really think he will be ready to plant his leg with confidence in the first half of the season? There is no way that Hockenson should be ranked at #16 on Fantasy Pros and have an ADP of #12 for TEs on MFL. He will be lucky to be a top 36 TE by the end of the 2024 season.

Brock Bowers – Las Vegas Raiders

Bowers was the overall 13th pick in this past draft by the Raiders. Rookie TEs don’t usually perform at a high level in their rookie year. There are exceptions with 2023 sensation Sam LaPorta and 2021 sensation Kyle Pitts. The number of TEs that struggled as rookies is much larger. For example, there is Mark Andrews with 34 receptions, Trey McBride with 29 receptions, George Kittle with 43 receptions, and T.J. Hockenson with 32 receptions.

FantasyPros.com has Bowers ranked as the #12 overall ranked TE while MFL is showing the ADP of #8 for TEs. Be careful with rookie TEs as more times than not, they end up busting. Especially when your QB is either Gardner Minshew or Aidan O’Connell.

Undervalued TEs

George Kittle – San Francisco 49ers

Kittle is ranked #5 on FantasyPros.com and is the ninth TE taken according to ADP from MFL. The last two years have Kittle as TE2 and TE3. Purdy is going to continue to get better and better, which means the receiving outlook for the 49ers receivers looks better and better. Kittle has four years of 900 or more yards receiving in his seven-year career thus far. He has 23 TDs in the last three years combined. If you want to jump ahead in the line and snap Kittle earlier, you would be making a smart move.

Cole Kmet – Chicago Bears

Kmet is the #15 ranked TE on the FantasyPros.com rankings while he shows up at #14 in the MFL ADP list for TEs. That is really low considering he ranked #8 and #10 in the last two years in scoring. He gets a rookie QB this year who knows how to throw the ball and will be looking to get rid of the ball quickly. Kmet will benefit from the situation that 2024 will present the Bears with.

Other positives to push Kmet up your board include that he has not missed a game in his four-year career. He has scored 13 TDs over the last two seasons. 2023 was a year that Kmet set a new career high in catches and yards of 73 receptions for 719 yards and 6 TDs. He needs to be drafted in the top 10 TEs for this 2024 draft.

Evan Engram – Jacksonville Jaguars

Engram was drafted by the New York Giants in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft. He made a splash as a rookie while producing 64 receptions for 722 yards and 6 TDs. Engram never produced those numbers again in his five years with the Giants. The Giants decided that they would let him walk in free agency.

Enter the Jacksonville Jaguars into the sweepstakes for Engram. The Jaguars offered a 3-year $41,250,000 contract in which Engram accepted and signed. He just completed his second year with the Jaguars. 2022 was a career-high with 73 receptions for 766 yards. Engram had found his place and wanted to improve for 2023. He delivered on improving by delivering 114 receptions off of 143 targets for 963 yards and 4 TDs.

Engram finished 2022 as the #5 scoring TE. He finished 2023 as the #1 TE. So, why is he ranked #10 by FantasyPros.com and being drafted as the #7 TE according to MFL and their ADP thus far. Take advantage of this missed foresight by so many people.
