NFC Championship Defensive Props
Byron Young To Record A Sack (+178)
This may seem a bit risky due to the fact that Byron Young has yet to get a sack in the NFL playoffs. However, he’s the first player I’m targeting on my NFC Championship defensive props list. The Seattle Seahawks’ offensive line has held up much better than I expected at the start of the season. They’ve only allowed 27 sacks this year, a number I expected to be much higher.
However, they did let the 49ers sack Darnold twice last week in the blowout. While the 49ers have a decent defense, they have not been as on point as the Rams’ defense has been. As good as a year as Sam Darnold has had, his escapability is not that of Caleb Williams. Expect this defensive line to put pressure on Darnold and to try to rattle him. Byron Young will hit paydirt at +178 to get his first playoff sack to go along with the 12 he had during the regular season.
Leonard Williams To Record A Sack (+225)
Another player I’m planning on notching a sack in the stat column is Seattle Seahawks’ defensive end, Leonard Williams, at +225. He’s my next favorite bet on my list of NFC Championship defensive props. The Seahawks and Rams are in the same division. Therefore, they play each other twice a year. Williams is familiar with what does and doesn’t work against this team.
He also got a sack against the 49ers last weekend. He may have only had seven sacks during the regular season, but he’s a veteran who knows how to make an impact when it matters most. Williams is entering his 10th year of football and could be nearing the end of his career. Therefore, he knows it’s important to make an impact in these last games and to try to reach the Super Bowl. From the Jets to the Giants to the Seahawks, he’s finally on a team that can get the job done.
Nick Emmanwori To Record A Sack (+630)
The next bet on my list of NFC Championship defensive props is a bit of a long shot. However, I feel really good about it. Nick Emmanwori is +630 to get a sack against the Rams. Players in the safety position aren’t necessarily known for sacks. In fact, he only finished with 2.5 sacks on the year.
However, there’s a reason I circled this bet as one I feel good about. Matthew Stafford was sacked a total of four times last weekend against the Bears. Of those four sacks, two were from the defensive backfield. Safety Jaquon Brisker had one, and nickleback Kyler Gordon had another. I expect Seattle to circle some of the gameplan Dennis Allen came up with and utilize it with a safety blitz. For the safety blitz by the Bears, Brisker went completely unblocked. Perhaps the Rams can fix this quickly, though. I wouldn’t count on it.
Jared Verse and Byron Young to Combine For 1.75+ Sacks (+750)
I’ve already explained above that I think Byron Young will get a sack. He’s included in my next bet among the NFC Championship defensive props that I’m circling. Jared Verse has the best odds to record a sack. In fact, they were juiced enough that I decided not to take them.
However, if we combine him with Byron Young to combine for 1.75+ sacks, the odds are +750. It’s a long shot play, but I feel good placing a little bit on it and seeing how it plays out. While I think the offenses are going to be able to move the ball down the field, this is going to be a war. Two division rivalries facing off seldom ends pretty, and they’re going to do everything they can to stop the opposing team.
Kamren Kinchens Over 0.5 Interceptions (+850)
I went back and forth on which Kamren I wanted to throw into my bets for the NFC Championship defensive props. On one hand, Kamren Curl had a game-sealing interception last weekend against the Chicago Bears. Therefore, I thought about riding the hot hand. However, he only had two regular-season interceptions. His odds are at +650.
Meanwhile, Kamren Kinchens also only had two interceptions on the year. However, both of those were against Sam Darnold when they played the Seahawks the first time this year. Darnold was on the Vikings last year and played in the playoffs against this Rams’ team. In the Rams 27-9 win over the Vikings, he also threw an interception. In the last two years, he’s thrown seven interceptions against this Rams’ defense. They are clearly able to get in his head and rattle him, and I expect them to do the same. This time, Kinchens at +850 will get the job done again and intercept Darnold.
