The New York Jets Are Hoping Their Defense Can Stay Healthy, Going Into This Season. Which buy-low players can help you win your championship?

My series covering every NFL team continues with this article taking a look at the New York Jets. I will be identifying buy-low players that I would consider adding ahead of the 2019 season. Also included will be my recommendations on what it might take to acquire these players.

Henry Anderson, Defensive End:

Henry Anderson, 27, is looking to take another step forward, going into his second season with the Jets. He ended his first season, in gang green, with 22 solo tackles, seven tackles for loss, 16 quarterback hits, and a career high, seven sacks. He did this while playing in 16 games, but only starting three of them. With Leonard and rookie Quinnen Williams along that defensive line, I think that will open up plenty of opportunities for Anderson to make plays as a full-time starter, this season. He’s a nice buy-low target.

Fantasy Recommendation:

He should be available on your waiver wire. I’m projecting him to have defensive end two production this season.

Honorable Mention: Steve Mclendon, Defensive Tackle.

Jordan Jenkins, Linebacker:

Jordan Jenkins, 24, is coming off of his best season as a pro. He ended last season with 24 solo tackles, six tackle for loss, 15, quarterback hits, and seven sacks. That was all done over 16 games played and 11 starts. With the few new additions to this defensive unit, Mosley and Williams, I think Jenkins can improve on last season’s production. He finished 2018 as linebacker 86 in MFL scoring. For me, Jordan’s arrow is pointing up and makes for a solid buy-low.

Fantasy Recommendation:

Jordan Jenkins should be available on your waiver wire. I see him having linebacker four/five potential, going into this season.

Honorable Mention: Brandon Copeland, Linebacker.

Marcus Maye, Safety:

Marcus Maye, 25, is coming off a down 2018 season, in the big apple. He ended last season with 30 solo tackles, and a half a sack. Maye only started six games for the Jets, due do a broken thumb early in the season, followed by a shoulder injury that ultimately ended his year. Marcus was just cleared by the Jets medical staff and is on schedule to get a full off-season in with his teammates. If he can stay healthy, the J-E-T-S could have one of the better safety tandems going into 2019. He makes a nice buy-low, given his potential.

Fantasy Recommendation:

He’s likely owned, but coming off of an injury you might be able to get him for a mid to late round pick. I see him with safety three potential.

Honorable Mention: Doug Middleton, Safety.

Conclusion

With the new off season additions, the potential for this defensive unit is very solid. I don’t see any reason why this unit can’t be better, overall, from last season. I’m looking to add any piece of this defense, given the overall step forward the Jets should make, going into 2019. Ranking these buy-low players, in order of priority, it would be: Marcus Maye, Henry Anderson, and Jordan Jenkins. Hopefully you find these recommendations helpful in your quest to build that championship roster for 2019. Please keep an eye out for the Oakland Raiders.

Please note that when I say linebacker four or safety three potential, that is basing it off of a 10 team dynasty league.
