The New York Giants Are Expecting Big Things From Their New Off-Season Additions, In 2019. Which players can you target as buy-low fantasy assets?
My series covering every NFL team continues with this article taking a look at the New York Giants. I will be identifying players that I would consider adding as a buy-low ahead of the 2019 season. Also included will be my recommendations on what it might take to acquire these players.
Dalvin Tomlinson, Defensive Tackle:
Dalvin Tomlinson, 25, is going into his third season as a starter for the Giants defense. Last season, he finished with 28 solo tackles and five tackles for loss over 16 starts. While, Tomlinson hasn’t been a huge IDP producer at the defensive tackle position, finishing as defensive tackle 23 in MFL scoring. I think he has the potential for more production with some of the new additions to this defense. He makes for a great buy-low candidate.
Fantasy Recommendation:
He should be available on your wavier wire. I believe he has defensive tackle two potential, going into this season.
Honorable Mention: Olsen Pierre, Defensive Tackle.
B.J. Goodson, Linebacker:
B.J. Goodson, 25, is going into his fourth season on the Giants defense and will be looking to take another step forward in his production. Goodson ended last season with 44 solo tackles, four tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, and a half a sack. He did this over 15 games played and 13 starts. B.J. finished last season as linebacker 66 in MFL scoring. If he can stay healthy and start all 16 games, he should see a nice increase in his production and makes for a great buy-low.
Fantasy Recommendation:
Goodson should be available on your wavier wire, but if not, it shouldn’t cost more than a late round pick for him. I feel like he can have linebacker four production, for this season.
Honorable Mention: Lorenzo Carter, Linebacker.
Sam Beal, Cornerback:
Sam Beal, 22, was a third round pick, out of Western Michigan, in the 2018 supplemental draft by the New York Giants. Beal, projected as a top five cornerback going into the 2019 draft. However, he had to leave Western Michigan, early, for academic reasons. He has the talent to make an immediate impact going into this season, assuming he’s fully recovered from his shoulder injury. Sam will have to hold off rookie cornerback Deandre Baker for the starting job and I believe he can, making him a great buy-low. This will be a situation to follow throughout training camp.
Fantasy Recommendation:
He should be widely available on your wavier wire. If I have room on my roster, I’m adding him as a stash and hold.
Honorable Mention: Deandre Baker, Cornerback.
Conclusion
The Giants are hoping to get increased production from a couple of players on the roster, along with some newcomers. If all of these pieces can come together, then the Giants will see their overall defensive production improve. Ranking these buy-low players in order of priority, it would be, B.J. Goodson, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Sam Beal. Hopefully, you find these recommendations helpful in your quest to build that championship roster for 2019. Please keep an eye out for the New York Jets.
Please note that when I say defensive tackle two or linebacker four potential, that is basing it off of a 10 team dynasty league.
