Whether you’re bored or looking to improve your team, this is the time of the year when players are cheaper to acquire! So check out this list of some dynasty value buys!

With the 2023 dynasty off-season in full swing, most managers are focused on rookies and how many picks they have. Everyone loves the new shiny toys and are reviewing the potential of their rookie picks in their dynasty leagues. Then this gives you the distinct advantage of buying at a discount for your dynasty team.

My favorite cheap off-season dynasty value buys that won’t break the bank are here!

Khalil Herbert, RB, Chicago Bears

Herbert is first on my buy list and is probably the most-known name on this list. Also, he likely will be the most costly. Herbert will be the starting running back for the Bears in 2023. David Montgomery is not expected back with the Bears.

In 2022, Herbert averaged 3.7 yards after contact and 5.7 yards per carry. However, there is a risk with Herbert. If they trade back, the Bears could draft a running back in the first round. Also, the Bears have a lot of needs, and a high-end running back isn’t one. However, it doesn’t mean that they won’t.

Jerome Ford, RB, Cleveland Browns

Ford was one of my post-draft wavier pickups last season, and now is the last chance to get him cheap. Kareem Hunt is a free agent, and so is stud third-stringer D’Ernest Johnson. That leaves Ford as the current backup to Nick Chubb.

Ford only had eight carries in 2022, with his first carry coming in Week 12. However, Ford was an active kick returner for the team averaging 24 yards per return and was third in the league in return yards with 723. The Browns’ first pick is at 42, and it is unlikely the team drafts an RB at that pick with several other needs on the roster.

Tim Patrick, WR, Denver Broncos

Patrick is a forgotten man in many leagues. At 29 years old, he is the oldest player on this list and only a player to target for contending teams. Patrick tore his ACL in practice before the 2022 season. Before that injury, Patrick was out snapping Jerry Juedy as the outside receiver. Patrick lead the Broncos in TDs in 2021 and signed a three-year extension before last season.

There are rumors that Courtland Sutton or Jerry Juedy could be traded this off-season. Ahead of the trade deadline, the Cowboys, Packers, and Giants all tried to trade for Juedy.

Malik Davis, RB, Dallas Cowboys

Davis is in a unique situation compared to all the other players on the buy list. He could provide Week 1 value if Tony Pollard is delayed in his recovery from a broken leg. Despite only seeing Davis for 38 carries in 2022, we did see a talented back who exceeded expectations and earned a roster spot for the 2023 season.

If Pollard doesn’t return or the team cuts Zeke, Davis is an immediate add who will be a weekly flex play. Davis is playing for a contract next season. And we have seen that be a big motivator for players on both sides of the ball.

Often, turmoil and uncertainty are the best time to capitalize on value. With De’Andre Hopkins requesting a trade, A.J. Green retiring, and Greg Dortch currently a free agent, someone will have to step up. Personally, I’m buying Dortch out of the hopes the team resigns him. At just 24 years old, he has proven to be a worthwhile complement to Marquise Brown.

Last season Rondale Moore took a step back. This season will tell if that was Kliff Kingsbury’s or Moore’s fault. I think it’s a Moore problem, but he is actually on the roster, therefore, is a cheap dynasty buy.

All of these players have great opportunities ahead of them for the 2023 season and are some of my favorite dynasty value buys!
