What Cornerbacks will lead you to success this fantasy football season? Let’s talk about the Cornerback Tiers for 2024 IDP Fantasy Football!
Welcome to the IDP + Cornerback Tiers for 2024 article! Cornerbacks are one of the most interesting assets in IDP leagues, and their use to you is highly dependent on the type of league you are in. Although many of you might think that CBs are only relevant in CB-required leagues, with the right scoring settings the right Cornerback can help you win your league.
In this article, I break down the top 32 CBs according to the IDP+ rankings into five tiers. Along the way, I will tell you which players I like and don’t like in each tier. These IDP takes are through the lens of a redraft league, NOT a dynasty league. Let’s explore the fun world that is Cornerbacks! On to the Cornerback Tiers for 2024 article!
Nate Hobbs | Las Vegas Raiders |
---|---|
Devon Witherspoon | Seattle Seahawks |
L'Jarius Sneed | Tennessee Titans |
Kenny Moore | Indianapolis Colts |
Derek Stingley | Houston Texans |
Trent McDuffie | Kansas City Chiefs |
Value: Derek Stingley, Houston Texans
Derek Stingley put together a wonderful Sophomore campaign last year, racking up 39 combined tackles and five interceptions over 11 games. Stingley being a “value” pick here is predicated on health, but boy does he have a lot going for him if he can suit up for all 17 games.
Stingley is on a team with an explosive offense leading to opposing teams needing to throw a ton against them, leading to more scoring opportunities. The Texans also have an incredible defensive line, which will lead to rushed passes leading to more opportunities for splash plays. You can get him much later, but mark my words: Stingley can be the top-scoring CB in redraft in 2024.
Bust: L’Jarius Sneed, Tennessee Titans
Despite being labeled here as a “bust,” I do believe that L’Jarius Sneed will perform well in the IDP scene in 2024. My issue is with the draft capital you will need to pay to get him. As one of the, if not THE, best CBs in IDP in the last few years, you will need to invest a decent amount of draft capital to acquire the new Titan.
Cornerbacks are volatile, and the odds that Sneed returns on your investment are relatively slim. Add in the fact that Sneed will now see a scheme change in Tennessee where we don’t yet know how he’ll be used, there are too many red flags for me to go all in on him. Let someone else grab him and look to target some more value picks later in your draft!
Sleeper: Devon Witherspoon, Seattle Seahawks
Witherspoon did everything you could want him to in his Rookie campaign, posting 79 combined tackles, three sacks, and one interception across 14 games. The cornerback room in Seattle is mostly unchanged going into 2024, making Witherspoon’s usage a near guarantee. With said usage and his production, Witherspoon has the potential to be relevant as a DB2 or DB3 regardless of league format. Get him!
