Jaelan Phillips (OLB) Miami Dolphins
Injury: ACL Tear Week 5 NFL Injuries
Injury Date: 9/30/2024
Expected Recovery Time: 10-12 months
Player(s) to Target: OLB Emmanuel Ogbah
This first injury is one you have to feel absolutely devastated about. Miami Dolphins star edge rusher Jaelan Phillips has suffered back-to-back season-ending injuries. After working his way back to an impressive start of the season from an Achilles Tendon tear, he tore his ACL on Monday night. Even more unfortunate is the fact that this was not a typical non-contact ACL injury but his own teammates’ helmet hit his knee and caused his ligament to completely tear.
Jaelan Phillips will be out for the season due to this injury and will be looking at a 10-12-month recovery period. With other star edge rusher Bradley Chubb still on the IR recovering from his own ACL tear, the Dolphins will need someone to step up. Although the rookie OLB Chop Robinson is the sexy pick here, I am going in a different direction.
Give me the veteran OLB Emmanuel Ogbah to step in this spot against a BAD Patriots O-Line. Ogbah has been impressive to start the season, second on the team in both sacks and TFLs. Despite the loss of Phillips, Miami is going against a New England offensive line that will be missing its best player in C David Andrews. Look for there to be plenty of TFL and sack opportunities here.
