DeMarvion Overshown (OLB) Dallas Cowboys
Injury: ACL/MCL/PCL Tear
Injury Date: 12/8/2024
Expected Recovery Time: 11-12 months
Player to Target: LB Marist Liufau, S Donovan Wilson
Let’s kick off this NFL Week 15 injuries article with a young player who has so much potential. Dallas Cowboys OLB DeMarvion Overshown has quickly become one of the best young defenders in the league. He is a catalyst for this Cowboys defense as he flies around the field making plays in all areas. Unfortunately while making a play on Monday night, his knee got caught in an awkward position leading to a significant injury. Overshown tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL, which are three of the four major stabilizing ligaments in the knee.
Multi-ligament knee injuries require surgery to repair and come with an 11-12 month recovery program. It will be a long road ahead for OverShown and due to his injury occurring so late in the season, he has a chance to miss most of next season. What we know for certain is that he will be out for the rest of the season. This opens up a large number of tackle opportunities as Overhown was the team’s second-leading tackler.
Safety Donovan Wilson is third on the team in tackles and could be a viable option to pick up the loss of production. Dallas could find themselves rolling their safeties into the box more often due to limited LB options. Another course of action could be LB Marist Liufau filling in for OverShown. He has not seen the field much this season but when forced into action last week he produced 1.5 sacks in the fourth quarter alone.
