NFL Teams have predictions of where their DST strengths will be and how they will perform against the competition on their schedule prior to NFL free agency and the NFL rookie draft. Some of those predictions will come true, while others will not be even close. Let’s take a look at which teams increased their value at the fantasy football DST level with those incoming free agents and rookies.

2025 Top Fantasy Football Team DSTs (Defensive/Special Teams)
DST #1 – Denver Broncos
The Broncos were not just the overall best DST in 2024, they crushed the competition. They outscored the #12 DST by over seven points per week. The Broncos beat the next closest team by 2 1/2 points per week. They were the best in sacks with 64 recorded. They were tied for eighth in interceptions with 15 on the season. The Broncos were tied for 11th in fumble recoveries with nine. They were third in points allowed and seventh in total yards allowed. The Broncos’ schedule appears to be tougher this year, with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, Washington Commanders, Green Bay Packers, and Kansas City Chiefs all on it.
Their defensive side of the roster got a big boost from free agency and the NFL draft. At safety, next to Brandon Jones, Talanoa Hufanga has replaced P.J. Locke. When looking at each player’s best season, Hufanga posted 23 more tackles, 2 more tackles for a loss, 7 more passes defended, and 4 more interceptions. Dre Greenlaw will be replacing Justin Strnad at the linebacker position. Greenlaw will post roughly 50 more tackles than Strnad. They also drafted CB Jahdae Barron to man the slot in place of Ja’Quan McMillian. There is no reason to move the Broncos down from the top spot.
DST Honorable Mentions –
Green Bay Packers – #4 ranked scoring DST in 2024. Tougher schedule with divisional double headers and matchups against formidable offenses from the Commanders, Cowboys, Bengals, Broncos, and Eagles. They had no big losses in free agency and added an underrated Nate Hobbs to the cornerback room.
Los Angeles Chargers – #7 ranked scoring DST in 2024. An easier schedule is on tap with the Commanders, Eagles, and Cowboys joining their doubleheaders in the AFC West. The team DST will be basically the same, with another year together, creating a stronger unit.
