Welcome to the rest of the season/deep dynasty profile for Colts defensive end Kwity Paye.

Defensive End IDP Kwity Paye

Coming into the 2022 season, many IDP managers were excited to see whether Colts defensive end Kwity Paye could show up as a solid pass rusher. He didn’t disappoint from the beginning, having a great outing against the suspect Texans’ offensive line. That’s not a crack on Paye, either.

Soon after, he followed up that performance with solid enough DL production. In those first four contests, Paye didn’t record any sacks. He also did not take a zero in the box score by continuously recording combined tackles. This normally isn’t the case for defensive ends in the 4-3 base defense, more of a 3-4 outside linebacker stat that’ gives them an edge as an edge rusher play.

Picking up in Week 9 against the Patriots, Paye came back in hot after missing time with an ankle injury. He recorded eight more combined tackles, seven of them solos. While he was at it, Paye threw in a sack for good measure. Although, on paper, it was a great matchup off the edge, we didn’t expect it to be padded by the combined tackles. Not to mention that many solos.

How does this translate for the rest of the 2022 season? Paye has a tough matchup coming up against the Raiders. Looking further ahead, it does get better, though he still has a couple of matchups. This rate can be backed up by the total tackles Paye is maintaining. At least, that’s our stand until further notice. He’s no longer capable of not taking the box score hit, at least when the matchups aren’t favorable for a defensive end to get a lot of action in the opponent’s backfields.

2022 Season Playoff Note

And to note, pay attention to his week 10 results versus the Raiders. Because if he overachieves in this tough matchup. It could mean we have the start of a run worth managing for the rest of the 2022 season.

Dynasty Profile

After reading our take on the rest of the season, we’re sure you have seen this hot take coming. Defensive end Kwity Paye may never be a top-tier sack option. That’s still to be determined. Especially when this seems this whole season’s fantasy performance could be an outlier.

Based on tackle consistency, we really need to see the rest of this year. And more importantly, at least the first few weeks of next season. Paye holds dynasty value as a DL1 and potential top-end edge rusher play. If this is the standard, he is a DE outlier capable of continually doing both. Paye continues to get in the backfield while padding his pass-rushing states with tackles.

We’re talking near Myles Garrett’s level of IDP production, possibly. It’s accompanied by an impressive film that also currently comes with nearly an elite grade of 78 from PFF to back it up.
