Week 5 is here and not only are the injuries stacking up, but the byes start this week. Let’s tackle some IDP dynasty buy/hold/sell players that can make or break your fifth game of the season. You need to either continue your current streak or start a new one this week. The choice is yours.
IDP Dynasty Buys
LB – E.J. Speed – Indianapolis Colts
Speed was a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft out of little Tarleton State University in Texas. He was patient and continuously worked on his craft to get better. Last year, it paid off as he played 90% or more of the defensive snaps in the Colt’s last four games. In those four games, Speed posted 47 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, and 2 passes defended. He has picked up right where he left off as he has produced another 47 tackles in the first four games this year. Speed is a Top 10 scoring LB that does not have a price attached to him of a Top 10 LB. That designation would go to Zaire Franklin, who has 41 tackles in the first four games.
Safety – Brandon Jones – Denver Broncos
Jones signed with the Broncos this past off-season after playing his first four years with the Miami Dolphins. He was a rotational player that never quite fit in the Dolphins scheme. Justin Simmons left the Broncos and signed with the Atlanta Falcons and that left a huge hole in the Bronco’s defensive backfield. Or so the IDP professionals thought. Simmons posted 24 tackles in his first four games last season, and Jones matched that in this season’s first four games. Simmons posted 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defended, and 1 interception. Jones already has 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery. Jones will only get more comfortable as the season goes on and produce better stats than the former Pro Bowler.
Safety – Kerby Joseph – Detroit Lions
