Alex Singleton (LB) Denver Broncos

Injury: ACL Tear
Injury Date: 9/22/2024
Expected Recovery Time: 10-12 months
Player(s) to Target: LB Cody Barton, S Brandon Jones

The Denver Broncos suffered a BRUTAL blow to their defense this week. Star linebacker Alex Singleton tore his ACL on Sunday and will be out for the season. This injury came as a bit of a surprise to many as he played the entire game last week. Remarkably, Singleton tore his ACL in the first quarter of the game and proceeded to play every defensive snap and lead his team in tackles. Despite this absolute warrior move, he will require season-ending knee surgery.

The ACL is a major stabilizing ligament in your knee and is needed to help provide stability while a player is moving. When fully torn, the ACL must be reattached and anchored in manually through surgery. This procedure comes with a typical 10-12 month recovery timeline, meaning Singleton now has the goal in mind to be ready for the start of next season.

Singleton is the leader of this defense both on the field and in the stat sheet. He was the Bronco’s leading tackler the past two seasons and was well on his way to being the leading tackler this season. The silver lining here is that this creates opportunities for other players to make a lot of tackles. Fellow starting ILB Cody Barton is a player who will need to step up to fill this void. SS Brandon Jones is also a player who likes to play downhill and has a good chance to increase his tackles this week and move forward. For awareness, the Broncos did just sign two veteran linebackers Kwon Alexander and Zach Cunningham.
