Top 12 QB Rankings for One QB Redraft Leagues

In this day and age in the fantasy industry, there are many different league types. The most common? One QB in a 10-12 team league.

Recently, fellow IDP Guys writer Steve Tomasin shared his top redraft defenses. Here are my top 12 QB rankings for your upcoming drafts. Subscribe to IDPGuys.org for consensus rankings, ADP, and other great in-season content.

The Cream of the Crop

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Last year, we saw the emergence of Josh Allen and Kyler Murray, and the temptation is there to draft one of them before Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes finished second in passing yards to Deshaun Watson. The Chiefs’ offense will likely not miss a beat this season and Mahomes will continue as the dominant QB he is.

2. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Yes, you read that right. Dak Prescott. It appears Prescott’s recent shoulder injury is likely only a hiccup. In weeks two through four last season, he had games of 450, 472, and 502 passing yards. Prescott also had three rushing touchdowns in week two. He ultimately was injured in week five and remained out for the rest of the season.

Outside of another injury, there is no reason to think Prescott cannot jump back into the pace he was on last season. Even with a little regression, it still makes him a top-three quarterback. The Cowboys have a three-headed monster at wide receiver and a healthy Ezekiel Elliott. Their offense is primed for a great season.

3. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

This is redraft, give me the touchdown slinging veteran. Rodgers threw for 48 touchdowns last season with only five interceptions. I fear no regression when it comes to the veteran. You know what you are going to get with him — Lambeau leaps and championship wrestling belt hip thrusts. The beauty of it all is that you can wait for Rodgers in your redraft leagues when everyone else is favoring the younger guys.

4. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills and Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

I’ve already been criticized by a few Bills fans for having hesitations about drafting Josh Allen so high in fantasy drafts. There is obviously an incredibly high upside for both quarterbacks and their teams have surrounded them with talent. Not only do Allen and Murray bring amazing arms to the table, but they can also run the ball. Allen had eight rushing touchdowns and Murray had eleven. My biggest reason for not ranking Allen and Murray two and three is a concern for a decline in rushing touchdowns. Please forgive, me Bills fans.

6. Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Father Time threw for 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns last season and the band is still together for this season. Similar to why I have Rodgers ranked so high in a re-draft format, give me the guy I know is going to get it done. Do we see 5,000 yards and 45 touchdowns from Brady this year?

7. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson is the hardest guy for me to rank. With Dobbins out for the season, you are likely going to see Jackson have another 1,000-yard season. Baltimore attempted to get Jackson some wide receiver help but, with both Rashod Bateman and Sammy Watkins dealing with injuries, it is hard to guarantee Jackson will have quality options to throw the ball to.

8. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks

While Russell Wilson had 40 touchdowns last season, it is hard for me to get over him being sacked 47 times. He still has one of the most talented wide receivers in football with DK Metcalf. Adding Gerald Everett at tight end should help but, unless the Seahawks’ offensive line can keep Wilson upright, it is hard for me to draft him top five.

The Remaining of the Twelve

9. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

10. Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans

11. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

12. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

Honorable Mentions and Wild Cards

Justin Fields would make my top 12 somewhere between 10-12 if the Bears were to name him the starter. If healthy, Joe Burrow is close and maybe one QB I would have on my bench in a one quarterback league. This list is void of Deshaun Watson, due to his legal matters and also not wanting to play for the Texans. He would be in the top five if playing.
