It can be hard to find sleepers each week. Let’s take a look at some players that could produce in Week two.
We made it through week one and we are ready for week two. If there is a last-minute injury, you may need to scramble to find a player to substitute. That is when this weekly article on offensive sleepers comes in handy. I use Sleeper’s rostered percentage before the Thursday night game to look for offensive sleepers and use anyone under 35% owned.
Zach Pascal, WR, Indianapolis Colts – 29% Rostered
Week 1 Carson Wentz targeted the RBs 15 out of 35 times but it is hard to know if that will continue during the season. With TY Hilton on IR, there is room for another receiver to step up and that might be Zach Pascal based on week one.
Pascal led the team in targets and brought in two TD passes. In the last 2 years, Pascal has had over 600 yards and 5 TDs, so he has shown that he can be productive. Michael Pittman Jr. is thought to be the number one receiver so he will draw Jalen Ramsey in week two against the Rams. This could help free up Paschal for another solid performance in week two.
Deonte Harris, WR, New Orleans Saints – 13% Rostered
A surprise in week one was how soundly the Saints beat the Packers and how impressive Jameis Winston looked. Winston only had 14 completions but 5 went for TDs. Can he keep up that efficiency? Probably not but he also will have a higher volume.
Many thought Marquez Callaway would lead in receiving in the absence of Michael Thomas but it was Deonte Harris who led with 72 yards. Harris was a recipient of only two targets but one went for a TD. Harris could be a sneaky fill-in for week two if attention is on Callaway.
Larry Rountree, RB, Los Angeles Chargers – 18% Rostered
The backup to Austin Ekeler has value for the Chargers. Ekeler is a dual-threat back but does not usually take a full workload in carries. The goalline carries usually go to the second running back on the depth chart.
Week 1 showed that Larry Rountree is the main backup as he had eight carries compared to Justin Jackson only having one. The yardage total was not much but Rountree could get a short TD if you are in a pinch at the RB position in week two.
Tim Patrick, WR, Denver Broncos – 34% Rostered
After Jerry Jeudy was injured in the third quarter, Teddy Bridgewater only threw seven passes and most were to RB Melvin Gordon. So it is unclear who he will favor now that Jeudy will be out for an extended period of time.
Last year when Courtland Sutton was out Tim Patrick was a solid contributor with over 700 yards and 6 TDS. In week one, Patrick had 4 targets for 4 receptions with 39 yards and a TD. So against a bad Jaguars defense, Patrick could be a solid fill-in for week two.
Conclusion
Those are my top offensive sleeper candidates going into the second week of the NFL season who are not highly rostered. With Covid protocols, you never know when someone is not going to be inactive on game day. These offensive sleepers could help you fill in your starting lineups for Week two.
