The Washington Redskins Are Hoping That Year Two Is A Productive One For Some Of Their Starters, In 2019.

My series covering every NFL team continues with this article taking a look at the Washington Redskins buys. I will be identifying buy-low players that I would consider adding ahead of the 2019 season. Also included will be my recommendations on what it might take to acquire these players.

Matt Ioannidis, Defensive End:

Matt Ioannidis, 25, will be going into his fourth season in Washington D.C. Ioannidis also just signed a three-year $21.75 million extension through 2022. He ended last season with 23 solo tackles, six tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hits, and seven and a half sacks. Just about all of this was new career highs and he did this over 14 games played and nine starts. Based on his stats he has plenty of room to grow and I think 2019 is the year he does that, along with playing in all 16 games. Matt has done a nice job of rebounding from a tough rookie season, thus making him a nice buy low target.

Fantasy Recommendation:

He might be available on your waiver wire, but if not, he’s someone that could be had for a late round pick. I project him with defensive end three production.

Honorable Mention: Da’Ron Payne, Defensive Tackle.

Josh Harvey-Clemons, Linebacker:

Josh Harvey-Clemons, 25, is going into his third season with the Redskins. Before the addition of linebacker Jon Bostic, I thought Harvey-Clemons had a great chance to be a weekly starter. I do believe with the age and injury history of the starting linebackers, Bostic and Foster, that Josh will see plenty of snaps in 2019. He ended last season with 18 solo tackles, one tackle for loss, two quarterback hits, one sack, and three pass deflections. This was done over 16 games played and zero starts. He’s someone who makes for a great buy low addition for the upcoming season.

Fantasy Recommendation:

He should be available on your waiver wire, but maybe not for much longer. I project him with linebacker five/six production. His upside and potential opportunity are too great to pass up for me.

Honorable Mention: Jon Bostic, Linebacker.

Fabian Moreau, Cornerback:

Fabian Moreau, 25, is also going into his third season with the Redskins. He ended last season with 37 solo tackles, and five pass deflections over 10 starts and 16 games played. The tackles and starts are both career highs for him. Being able to play across from fellow teammate Josh Norman should allow for Moreau with plenty of chances to make plays. Due to this, he is someone that I would be targeting as a buy low option.

Fantasy Recommendation:

He is one of those corners who flew under the radar in the leagues I am in and he should be available on your waiver wire. If not, it shouldn’t cost you more than a late round pick. I project him with cornerback three/four if he can start all 16 games in 2019.

Honorable Mention: Deshazor Everett, Safety.

Conclusion

This is a defense that will be relying on a bunch of players that will need to make a huge leap and impact from last year. I think this unit is still a work in progress, but they do have some pieces to build around long term. Ranking these buy-low players in order of priority, it would be, Fabian Moreau, Josh Harvey-Clemons, and Matt Ioannidis. Hopefully, you find these recommendations helpful in your quest to build that championship roster for 2019. This concludes my team by team buy lows series. Hope everyone enjoyed reading this.

Please note that when I say linebacker five/six or Cornerback three/four potential, that is basing it off of a 10 team dynasty league.
