The Tennessee Titans Are Hoping For Some Under The Radar Players To Step Up In 2019. Which buy-low target can help you win your league?
My series covering every NFL team continues with this article taking a look at the Tennessee Titans. I will be identifying buy-low players that I would consider adding ahead of the 2019 season. Also included will be my recommendations on what it might take to acquire these players.
DaQuan Jones, Defensive End:
DaQuan Jones, 27, is entering his sixth season with the Titans. Even though Jones hasn’t had a breakout season yet, I think he’s due in 2019. He ended last season with 20 solo tackles, four tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and one pass deflection. He did that over 16 starts. Jones excels with his ability to defend the run, but struggles to rush the passer. I think the addition of Cameron Wake, this off-season, will be huge in helping Jones take his game to the next level. He’s someone who has nice upside and makes a great buy-low candidate, going into this season.
Fantasy Recommendation:
Jones should be available on your waiver wire. If he can learn a few things from Wake, I project him with defensive end four production.
Honorable Mention: Matt Dickerson, Defensive End.
Harold Landry, Linebacker:
Harold Landry, 23, is going into his second season in the NFL. With the retirement of linebacker, Brian Orakpo, a starting spot is up for grabs. I believe Landry has a great chance to claim that starting role based on what he did as a rookie and what he’s doing in the off-season. He ended his rookie season with 24 solo tackles, five tackles for loss, 14 quarterback hits, four and a half sacks, and two pass deflections. That was done over 15 games played and three starts. In addition, Landry has added a few extra pounds and is working to improve his skill set, during the off-season. He makes for an excellent buy-low candidate.
Fantasy Recommendation:
He might be available on the waiver wire, but if not, he’s someone I’d gladly give up a mid round pick for. I project him with linebacker four/five production.
Honorable Mention: Kamalei Correa, Linebacker.
Kenny Vaccaro, Safety:
Kenny Vaccaro, 28, was the recipient of a four-year, $26 million contract, this off-season. He ended his first season, in Tennessee, with 41 solo tackles, three tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, two sacks, and four pass deflections. He did all of this while starting and playing in 13 games. Even with his injury history, the Titans felt like he did enough to solidify the position across from, teammate, Kevin Byard. If Vaccaro can remain healthy for a full season, he has a great chance to improve on his production from last season, making him a great buy-low target.
Fantasy Recommendation:
While I expect him to be owned in most leagues, he’s someone that I’d give up a mid round pick for, if needed. I project him with safety three/four production.
Honorable Mention: Logan Ryan, Cornerback.
Conclusion
In order for the Tennessee Titans to take the next step as a team defensively, they’ll need these players to play a major role, in 2019. With their offense still a work in progress, I think that’s going to cause their defense to remain on the field longer than most units, which will allow for more play making chances. Ranking these buy-low players in order of priority, it would be, Harold Landry, Kenny Vaccaro, DaQuan Jones. Hopefully, you find these recommendations helpful in your quest to build that championship roster for 2019. Please keep an eye out for the Washington Redskins.
Please note that when I say linebacker four/five or Safety three/four potential, that is basing it off of a 10 team dynasty league.
