“Even some of the more established Quarterbacks play in a pass-heavy offense and will likely be playing from behind. In which case, the chance of them scoring higher than some of the star rushing QB1s is quite possible during any given week.”
The 2025 NFL Preseason is in the books. Before the first game arrives, it is time to prepare for your redraft league. There’s always the option to take one of the top five QB1s in the earlier rounds, but if I can wait on one towards the end, then why not do so? Even some of the more established Quarterbacks play in a pass-heavy offense and will likely be playing from behind. In which case, the chance of them scoring higher than some of the star rushing QB1s is quite possible during any given week. Building your team with more depth of pass catchers is always a great strategy going into your draft, but many times this requires waiting on the most important position. Are you willing to pass out on the big names? Here are some options for late-round fantasy Quarterbacks.

Dak Prescott
Fresh out the gate, I’m going with the QB1 of everyone’s least favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. Coming off an injury, Dak Prescott will be going into the 2025 season with some small changes to this offense. He’ll still have CeeDee Lamb & Jake Ferguson, but now he’s got a new WR2 in George Pickens. With a stud like Lamb, he’ll likely be well covered by opposing defenses. However, if a young speedy guy like Pickens can get open, this means more passing yards for Dak, which means more fantasy points.
The Cowboys might have a tough start in Philly on Opening Night, but all the more proof that Dak is gonna need to throw the football. CeeDee is ranked as one of the top three Wide Receivers in fantasy drafts because this offense is very pass heavy. That starts with the Quarterback and the weapons around him. New Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer shouldn’t change the fantasy potentials that this offense has.
Whether or not Jerry Jones signs Micah Parsons, this defense isn’t what it once was the last couple seasons. There’s a very good chance Dak and Dem Boys will have to play from behind. There is no shame in taking the veteran as your late round fantasy Quarterback, but he might be more of a streaming option as the season goes on.
Geno Smith
Another team with a veteran QB1 that will likely be playing from behind is the Las Vegas Raiders. They might not make the playoffs this year, but they have a chance to at least turn the offense around. Even if new Head Coach Pete Carroll predictably runs the ball with rookie Ashton Jeanty, they’ll eventually need to throw the football.
Jakobi Meyers may be the most recent player to request a trade but honestly, I don’t know why, at least in comparison to players of higher caliber like Terry McLaurin. Now that the Raiders are reuniting with veteran Wide Receiver Amari Cooper, I’d consider this offense set. The Cooper signing might not be a permanent move but it does set the stage for Quarterback Geno Smith. Let’s assume Meyers stays in Vegas and he’s the WR2 here. Cooper, Meyers, and Brock Bowers? I would trust my experienced Head Coach here and see how this offense plays out.
From a fantasy perspective, I can see Geno balling out there. This offense might put up some numbers on a consistent basis for a change. By the end of the season, we can very well see the AFC West as the strongest division in the League. If all the earlier QB1s are off the board, I wouldn’t mind waiting on Geno. as my late round fantasy Quarterback.
