Taking a look at the NFL Week 13 from a IDP perspective; notes on what our writer @Orangeman3142 saw this weekend.

This is a continuation of our weekly article series that breaks down what we saw this week in IDP fantasy football. What happened and why, what we got right and what we got wrong and more importantly how to move forward and get better next week.

We look at possible waivers and trends, snap counts and issues that affect production for your IDP team. Part three will cover the next four games of week thirteen. Keep an eye out for part four dropping tomorrow morning and make sure you caught parts one and two from earlier this week.

Let’s get into it.

Colts: It was the sometimes good and usually frustrating Anthony Walker (LB) leading the way for the Colts this week with 9 combined tackles on 74% of snaps this week, while Skai Moore (LB) only had 2% of snaps so he wasn’t a factor in taking any of Walkers playing time he’s still not getting anywhere close to 100% of snaps each week which will catch up to him at some point, probably at the worst possible time during playoffs, use another option if you have one.

Darius Leonard (LB) had 8 combined tackles and 1.5 TFL playing 100% of snaps this week and has been the best IDP linebacker this entire season so enough said. Denico Autry (DT) had a monster game with 7 combined tackles, 3 sacks and 3 TFL playing 74% of snaps this week, this is only his second solid week all season though so still far too spotty for my tastes. Clayton Geathers (S) had a nice week with 7 combined tackles and 0.5 TFL playing 100% of snaps and is a great option when healthy.

Kenny Moore (CB) had a great week as well with 6 combined tackles and 1 PD on 100% of snaps this week, he had a solid game in a not ideal situation and has had a great season overall, definitely play him if the matchup is good. Jabaal Sheard (DE) and Margus Hunt (DE) both had stinkers but Sheard remains a solid tier two option at defensive tackle.

Jags: It was business as usual with Telvin Smith (LB) on top of the Jags box score with 12 combined tackles and 1 TFL playing 100% of snaps this week, he remains a tier one auto start weekly. It was truly a rare occasion indeed this week with Myles Jack (LB) deciding to play a little football recording 10 combined tackles and 0.5 TFL on 100% of snaps, he remains a gigantic disappointment and a supremely unreliable option at linebacker.

Jalen Ramsey (CB) and AJ Bouye (CB) took advantage of an ideal matchup against a Colts team that passes early and often. Ramsey had 6 solo tackles and 2 PD on 100% of snaps while Bouye had 5 solo tackles and 1 PD also on 100% of snaps this week. Both remain solid options when they have ideal matchups like this week.

Both defensive line options had solid weeks as well, Calais Campbell (DE) had 2 solo tackles, 1 sack, 2 TFL and 1 PD on 83% of snaps while Yannick Ngakoue (DE) had 4 solo tackles, 1 sack and 1 TFL on 84% of snaps this week. Campbell is the tier one option here and Ngakoue remains a dice roll.

Browns: It was Joe Schobert (LB) leading the way for the Browns this week with 11 combined tackles, 0.5 sacks and 0.5 TFL playing 100% of snaps, he remains their best IDP producer and a weekly auto start at linebacker. Damarious Randal (S) was the next best producer for the Browns this week with 8 combined tackles on 100% of snaps, when healthy he has been a solid start of tier two option this season.

Jabril Peppers (S) had a nice week but only played 72% of snaps this week and has been up and down all year in both playing time and production so the last thing I’m going to do is ask someone to start this guy right before fantasy playoffs, I wouldn’t. Emanuel Ogbah (DE) had a solid game with 6 combined tackles, 1 sack and 1.5 TFL playing 79% of snaps, he’s just a spotty tier two option overall though.

Jamie Collins (LB) had seriously cooled down in the last couple weeks and only had 4 combined tackles and 1 TFL on 100% of snaps this week. This is a bad time for a slump so it might be best to find another option for this week.

Myles Garrett (DE) had a monster game with 3 combined tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1.5 TFL on 80% of snaps and remains a weekly tier one auto start at defensive end. Denzel Ward (CB) had a stinker with just 2 combined tackles and 1 TFL playing only 42% of snaps this week, he suffered an injury and left the game early and his status is in the air for this upcoming week, find a streamer with a solid matchup elsewhere that’s what I’m doing.

Texans: The “Honey Badger” Tyrann Mathieu (S) was the best producer for the Texans IDP this week with 6 combined tackles and 1 PD on 88% of snaps played, this game was a blowout and he, and many others, got some rest in the 4th quarter so don’t let the snap count scare you off. He remains a tier one safety option having a great year.

Justin Reid (S) has cooled off the last couple games with just 4 combined tackles and 2 PD this week playing 86% of snaps this week, he has been hot most of the year but with the Houston offense clicking the way it has been lately he’s getting fewer snaps than earlier this season so it could be a risk playing him during playoffs.

Bernardick McKinney (LB) had a serviceable game with 4 combined tackles and 0.5 TFL playing only 56% of snaps, he’s had a great year and didn’t have to do much with the Browns forced to throw early and often as they got behind so he remains a decent tier two option at linebacker going forward.

Zach Cunningham (LB) had only 2 combined tackles but made up for it with 2 PD, 1 INT and 1 TD on 72% of snaps and remains a good option heading into playoffs especially against any team that can play some offense against the Texans more effectively than the hapless Browns did this week.

JJ Watt (DE) and JaDaveon Clowney (DE, LB) both had down days this week but are both excellent options going into playoffs, never sit your studs.

Jets: There are only two guys I actually give a crap about on the Jets and they both are IDP studs and both sit atop of the box score this week. Jamal Adams (S) and Avery Williamson (LB) have been studs all year and even with Williamson’s slow start has managed to become a rock solid tier one option at linebacker since then.

Adams had 11 combined tackles and 1 sack playing 100% of snaps this week and is a top five option at IDP safety and a weekly auto start with one hell of a bright future. Williamson recorded 9 combined tackles playing 100% of snaps and is also a rock solid tier one weekly auto start.

I could talk about Leonard Williams (DE) or one of the Jets spotty cornerback options but I’m not going to, fantasy playoffs start next week and these are the only two guys on this team you should have in your IDP lineups for playoffs, end of story.

Titans: It was Rashaan Evans (LB) with the best IDP day for the Titans this week but he only played 47% of snaps and has been bad all season so don’t play him, he’s a futures option in dynasty and that’s it for the moment.

The Titans secondary has many great options at corner with Adoree Jackson (CB), Malcolm Butler (CB) and Logan Ryan (CB) the problem is you never know which one is going to have a huge week, my rule of thumb is play Jackson always if you have return yards and avoid the situation entirely if not, feel free to roll the dice on any of them but I’m not going to recommend one over the other right before fantasy playoffs, that’s your call to make but I’m streaming elsewhere this week.

Wesley Woodyard (LB) had a solid week with 7 combined tackles playing 74% of snaps and is a tier one auto start when healthy, he’ll be starting on a few of my rosters going into playoffs. Kevin Byard (S) had a nice game as well with 6 combined tackles on 100% of snaps but is inconsistent overall and while certainly capable of outstanding weeks has put up more than a few stinkers as well this season, he remains a risk versus reward play heading into playoffs, that one’s your call as well, I’m not playing him anywhere, consistency and reliability are the two factors I’m keeping in mind setting my playoff lineups.

Jurell Casey (DT) had 4 combined tackles, 1 sack and 1 TFL on 91% of snaps and has been a tier one defensive tackle this season who I definitely plan on starting throughout playoffs. Jayon Brown (LB) had a nice game this week with 5 combined tackles, 1 sack, 1 TFL and 1 PD on 82% of snaps and is a solid tier two option going into playoffs, he’s fallen off since Woodyard came back from injury but if you’ve got him as your second or third linebacker you’re looking good.

Kenny Vaccaro (S) has been consistent this season but his numbers haven’t blown anyone away, only play him if you have no other options with everything on the line.

Chiefs: It was Orlando Scandrick (CB) leading the way for the Chiefs this week but I haven’t talked about him all year due to underwhelming production and inconsistency and I don’t plan on starting now.

Anthony Hitchens (LB) had a nice game with 9 combined tackles on 79% of snaps this week but has been losing playing time for weeks now and was in a slump until recently, he’s fine as a linebacker two in a super deep league or a linebacker three in a league with three or four starting linebackers but if you’re relying on him for tier one production during fantasy playoffs it’s not going to end well.

Kendall Fuller (CB) had another awesome game with 8 combined tackles playing 96% of snaps and is one of my only weekly auto starts at cornerback, play him with confidence going forward as you have all year long. I don’t care about any of the edge rush linebackers on this team, I won’t play any of them during the regular season and I sure as hell won’t when the chips are down and it matters, I hope you don’t either unless it’s for a specific EDGE or OLB slot.

Chris Jones (DE) had a great game with 5 combined tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1 TFL on 61% of snaps but has been nothing more than a short term guy or spot start unless in a super deep league so by now you know if you need to play him or not, if you do it’s not the worst dice roll at defensive end.

Raiders: The only player on this team I care about, on either side of the ball (Cook hasn’t been bad I guess) is Tahir Whitehead (LB) and he should ideally be a linebacker two or preferably three on your team going into fantasy playoffs. He had 7 solo tackles this week playing 100% of snaps and is the only real consistent and productive guy on this defense and the only one I even semi-trust.

Maurice Hurst (DT) had 1 tackles assist playing only 31% of snaps this week and is still just a futures prospect going into next season, besides those guys I’m not paying attention to anyone on this team, maybe next season.

Make sure you catch part four dropping tomorrow and keep an eye out for my start or sit article dropping Sunday morning. Parts one and two are available from earlier in the week as well. My bad habit of going too far into detail means this article is in multiple parts instead of one novel.
