Taking a look at the NFL Week 11 from a IDP perspective; notes on what our writer @Orangeman3142 saw this weekend.

This is a continuation of our weekly article series that breaks down what we saw this week in IDP fantasy football. What happened and why, what we got right and what we got wrong and more importantly how to move forward and get better next week. We look at possible waivers and trends, snap counts and issues that affect production for your IDP team. Part three will cover the next three games of week eleven. Keep an eye out for part four dropping tomorrow and make sure you read parts one and two from earlier this week.

Let’s get into it.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Jags: For once this season Jalen Ramsey (CB) actually backed up his large mouth with a team leading performance this week recording 8 solo tackles, 3 PD and 2 INT on 100% of snaps in an ideal matchup, he’s been playable in games like these against teams that throw the ball well like Pittsburgh does but has been spotty and unreliable in general this season so he’s not an every week guy in my eyes. Next was DJ Hayden (CB) and AJ Bouye (CB) with Hayden putting up 8 combined tackles and 1 PD on 88% of snaps while Bouye recorded 6 combined tackles and 1 PD on 100% of snaps this week.

Hayden has only been mentioned once by me this year, right now, so is not worth an add due to inconsistency while Bouye is similar to Ramsey, playable in ideal matchups and spotty otherwise. This was just a perfect scenario for Jacksonville’s corners this week with Pittsburgh getting behind earl and having to pass a crapload all game, I wouldn’t expect this to happen again this year with all three of these guys having monster games.

Telvin Smith (LB) and Calais Campbell (DE) didn’t have monster games this week but certainly serviceable with Smith putting up 6 combined tackles and 0.5 TFL on 100% of snaps while Campbell had 3 combined tackles, 1 sack and 1 TFL on 95% of snaps. Both remain tier one auto starts weekly.

Barry Church (S) and Yannick Ngakoue (DE) both had serviceable games with Church recording 2 solo tackles, 1 PD and 1 INT on 86% of snaps while Ngakoue had 1 solo tackle, 1 sack and 1 TFL on 86% of snaps played as well. Both are still best used as spot starts or short term guys. Myles Jack (LB) had another disappointing game with just 1 solo tackle on 100% of snaps played as a middle linebacker, that’s ridiculous, what a bust he’s been this year.

Steelers: It was another unpredictable week for Steelers IDP production with Vince Williams (LB) leading the way this week with 10 combined tackles, 1 sack, 1 TFL and 1 PD on 82% of snaps this week. He’s been up and down all season this week it was up. Sean Davis (S) was next with 8 combined tackles on 100% of snaps but has also been spotty all season so I’m all set. TJ Watt (LB, EDGE) either has awful weeks or great weeks, this week it was great with 6 solo tackles, 2 sacks and 1 TFL on 85% of snaps played, unless it’s for a specific OLB or EDGE slot I’m still not interested, consistency wins championships.

Jon Bostic (LB) had a decent week with 6 combined tackles and 0.5 TFL on 79% of snaps but is also inconsistent so I don’t play him either. Cameron Heyward (DT, DE) and Stephon Tuitt (DE) are the only two guys I consistently start from this team. Tuitt was injured and out this week but Heyward had a great game with 5 combined tackles, 1 sack and 2 TFL on 90% of snaps this week. I’m not interested in Terrel Edmunds (S) either but he had 4 combined tackles on 85% of snaps this week. This team falls into the category of teams like the Lions and Patriots with very few consistent guys for IDP purposes so I generally just steer clear of all of them.

Bengals: It was the two stud safeties once again atop the box score for the Bengals this week with Shawn Williams (S) the overall leader with 11 combined tackles, 1 PD and 1 INT on 97% of snaps played while Jessie Bates (S), who doesn’t have bad games, had another monster performance with 9 combined tackles on 100% of snaps this week. Williams had a fast start to the season then was in a slump for awhile but has been incredible the last couple weeks and is definitely worth an add if available on waivers.

Hardy Nickerson (LB) had a ridiculous game with 11 combined tackles on 100% of snaps this week but will disappear into the void once Nick Vigil (LB) and Preston Brown (LB) both return from their injuries which should be next week so it may not be worth an add through waivers unless we hear otherwise about the health of these guys. Darqueze Dennard (CB) had a solid game with 6 solo tackles on 80% of snaps this week in a not ideal matchup but is as likely to have a good game as Dre Kirkpatrick (CB) is who only had 2 solo tackles on 81% of snaps this week so I’d go with someone more predictable and consistent.

Geno Atkins (DT), Carlos Dunlap (DE) and Vontaze Burfict (LB) all had down games this week. Burfict is rusty and should be fine going forward while Atkins and Dunlap both started the season really strong and have cooled off significantly. I would still feel confident playing Atkins or Dunlap consistently as a defensive tackle two or defensive end two in deeper leagues, they will have monster games before the season is done they’re both far too talented not to.

Ravens: It was the often hyped and usually underwhelming Kenny Young (LB) who led the way for the Ravens this week with 6 solo tackles on only 42% of snaps played. That’s not nearly enough playing time or production for me to be interested. CJ Mosley (LB) and Tony Jefferson (S) were next with Mosley recording 5 combined tackles and 1 PD on 100% of snaps while Jefferson had 6 combined tackles and 1 PD also on 100% of snaps this week.

Both are tier one producers and weekly auto starts for me it was just not a great matchup this week, the Cincy offense played like crap and the Ravens owned time of possession effectively limiting the opportunities for plays for the Ravens IDP. Both Terrell Suggs (LB, EDGE) and Eric Weddle (S) had terrible games this week and both are pretty spotty to begin with so I’m not playing them unless in an EDGE or OLB slot for Suggs or as a spot start or short term guy with Weddle.

Oakland Raiders @ Arizona Cardinals

Raiders: I only care about Tahir Whitehead (LB) for weekly IDP production and Maurice Hurst (DT) as a futures prospect in dynasty as far as the Raiders IDP production goes. Their offense is generally terrible so this should be a breeding ground for IDP points but they are consistently beaten by big plays and the production is scatter shot and inconsistent for everyone without the last name Whitehead.

Tahir had 7 combined tackles and 1 TFL on 100% of snaps this week and remains an end of tier one producer and pretty consistent overall, I have no problem starting him weekly. Hurst had a great game this week with 5 solo tackles, 1 sack and 1 TFL on 61% of snaps this week and is getting better as the year goes on, I would start him in super deep leagues where you need two or more specific defensive tackles, besides that he’s just a dynasty prospect for down the road.

Cardinals: With stud safety Budda Baker (S) injured and out this week it was up to the rest of the “Killer B’s” to pick up the slack this week and they most certainly did. Antoine Bethea (S) led the way for Arizona with 8 combined tackles, 1 sack and 2 TFL on 100% of snaps this week, he remains an end of tier one safety and a weekly auto start. Josh Bynes (LB) had a nice week as well with 8 combined tackles, 1 TFL and 1 PD on 100% of snaps and keeps on plugging as an upper tier two guy himself and pretty much an auto start as well unless you’re loaded at linebacker.

Tre Boston (S) also had a solid week recording 7 combined tackles and 0.5 TFL on 100% of snaps played. All the “Killer B’s” are auto starts including Mr. Boston. Markus Golden (DE) had his second solid week out of the last three and is totally healthy now if you need defensive end help he’s a great option, he had 5 solo tackles on 57% of snaps this week.

Chandler Jones (DE) has caught fire recently and kept it going this week recording 3 solo tackles, 2 sacks and 1 TFL on 81% of snaps played and is a tier one auto start defensive end. Patrick Peterson (CB) had a bad week but that was expected, the Raiders couldn’t pass their way out of a paper bag with a map and a flashlight, he’s a fine option against teams that can actually pass the ball effectively.

Both Deone Buchanon (LB) and Hasaan Redick (LB) had awful games as well although Redick does have the playing time (90% of snaps this week) to potentially be a decent producer, I don’t trust him though. Robert Nkemdiche (DT) was injured and out this week but is a nice tier two defensive tackle when healthy and playing.

Make sure you read parts one and two from earlier this week and catch part four dropping tomorrow and keep an eye out for my start or sit article dropping Sunday morning. My bad habit of going too far into detail means this article is in multiple parts instead of one novel.
