We saw some new faces emerge as fantasy IDP factors in week six. Here we see who of these players are priority waiver adds.
Week six left us seeing some real surprise IDP performances. We saw a couple of benchings happen at the linebacker position as well as some injuries. Lets just say that the guys who stepped into their respective roles did not disappoint. Lets look into the top IDP fantasy football adds following week six. Some of these guys seem like they could be possible game changers.
Demarcus Walker – Defensive End Denver Broncos
2019 Stats: 12 tackles (eight solo), four tackles for a loss, three sacks, one pass defensed and three QB hits.
Demarcus Walker barely saw any playing time his first two years in the league but is starting to get some playing time in 2019. Over his last three games he has recorded 10 tackles, four for a loss and three sacks. His emergence seems to have come at the expense of Bradley Chubb but he has filled in nicely. Walker has a tough schedule moving forward but could be a nice fill-in option as he has been the best edge rusher for the Broncos over the last three games.
Alexander Johnson – Linebacker Denver Broncos
2019 Stats: 17 tackles (11 solo), two tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, two passes defensed, one interception and two QB hits.
ALexander Johnson has officially stolen Josey Jewell‘s job from him at inside linebacker. Johnson has started the past two games and has been a beast. During his two starts he has totaled every stat you see above. Those are remarkable numbers for a newbie to the field. Todd Davis is wearing the dot at inside linebacker for the Broncos. This means he spends time getting others in place on the defense while Johnson can come in and just tackle and produce. His outlook the rest of the season seems like he is a true impact player.
David Mayo – Linebacker New York Giants
2019 Stats: 30 tackles (18 solo), one tackle for a loss, 0.5 sacks and a QB hit.
The Giants have been void of any other inside linebacker presence other than Alec Ogletree since he has come over to New York. This was true again to start this season until rookie Ryan Connelly made his presence only to fo on season ending IR. Enter David Mayo who has been a god dent for the team.
Brian Poole – Cornerback New York Jets
2019 Stats: 29 tackles (25 solo), one tackle for a loss, 1 forced fumble and 3 passes defended.
The Jets front 7 has been relatively stout, encouraging teams to pass on them. As a result, Poole has been quietly put together 8+ solo tackles in each of the past two games. Cornerback is a highly volatile position but Poole looks like a relatively dependable option. (Honorable mention: Travis Carrie)
Rayshawn Jenkins – Safety Los Angeles Chargers
2019 Stats: 22 tackles (15 solo), two tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, 2 passes defended.
The Chargers have taken several big losses to their secondary, including Derwin James and Adrian Phillips, and Rayshawn has taken advantage. The linebacking corps is not overly reliable meaning that tackles are available in the secondary. Jenkins has collected 5 or more combined tackles each of the past 3 weeks with upside for more.
Conclusion
Not a heavy week for waiver wire adds as many players have been scooped up but there are still some upside plays to add if you need a bye-week fill-in or depth for your bench. For our offensive waiver adds, please check out Morgan’s article here.
