Who Will Be This Years #1 Draft Pick?
We are less than two weeks away for the 2021 NFL Draft, which starts on Thursday, April 29th. This is a yearly event every football fan looks forward too, no matter if it’s for fantasy purposes, you’re cheering on your hometown team or you have a betting interest. If you have a betting interest in the NFL Draft is rookie Trevor Lawrence a sure thing to go #1? I’ll dive into it and tell you why the answer is a resounding yes.
Jacksonville Jaguars Team Needs
It was very apparent early on last season that Jacksonville was going to be in contention for the top draft pick in 2021. After winning their week 1 matchup against the Colts they then proceeded to lose the next 15 straight games. While other things contributed to a 1-15 record, this was largely due to inconsistent quarterback play. Once it became clear that Jacksonville would have the top pick they were able to shift their attention to finding a franchise signal caller. Another thing the Jaguars needed to address this off-season was a new head coach. They signed former college coach Urban Meyer, which wasn’t a shock to anyone around the league.
Here are the areas of need the team should be focusing on in the upcoming draft. New Jags head coach pretty much told us who he plans on taking with the #1 pick.
Odds Lawrence Goes #1
This is great news if you’re a betting person. Getting pretty much of a guarantee on who will go #1 makes it an easy decision on where to lay your money. When placing a bet on something there usually isn’t much clarity on how it will go, but not in this case. Here are the current odds for Lawrence to go #1.
As you can see, Trevor Lawrence is favored to be the first draft pick by a fairly wide margin. The real betting action starts at the number two overall pick and who the Jets take as their franchise quarterback. By the looks of it Zach Wilson from BYU will be the pick. I like many others will be tuned in on draft night to see how the rest of the first round shakes out. As always enjoy the NFL Draft and please bet responsibly.
