Obvious Waiver Adds

Josh Palmer, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

Josh Palmer did not play in the Chargers’ third preseason game. This is important because starters Keenan Allen and Mike Williams also sat out, so Palmer looks to play an important role this year.

On top of that, he received four targets in both preseason games and had three receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown game against the Cowboys. The offense should be explosive — all signs point to Palmer being the WR3.

David Bell, WR, Cleveland Browns

David Bell missed time because of injury, but he has had good outings in the last two games. He has caught six of seven targets for 82 yards and looks to be a good possession receiver for the Browns this year.

Donovan People-Jones has not been consistent, and Anthony Schwartz struggled again, only catching one out of six targets. There is an opportunity for Bell to possibly move up to the second WR spot.

Eno Benjamin, RB, Arizona Cardinals

James Conner will be the lead back, but Kliff Kingsbury has used a two-back system in Arizona. Chase Edmonds is gone, so there is an opening for the receiving back. From preseason and camp reports, it looks as if Eno Benjamin is finally going to get his chance and more playing time. On top of that, there are talks of Darrel Williams being a cut casualty.

Deep League Waiver Adds

Jody Fortson, TE, Kansas City Chiefs

Travis Kelce is obviously the top option at tight end for the team, but Jody Fortson is an interesting name. Forston has seven targets in the last two games. So far, it looks as if Patrick Mahomes will be spreading the ball around to everyone not named Kelce. In deep leagues or those that start two tight ends, Fortson could be valuable, and you always want the weapons associated with a top QB like Mahomes.

Demarcus Robinson, WR, Baltimore Ravens

Demarcus Robinson was with the Chiefs for six years showing mediocre success but did have his occasional big games with Patrick Mahomes. He now is with Baltimore and in his first game he racked up four catches for 135 yards and a touchdown on six targets. Other than Rashod Bateman, the receivers are up in the air in Baltimore, and Robinson could have value if he can play the opposite of Bateman.

Marquez Callaway, WR, New Orleans Saints

The Saints will have a new look receiving unit this year. Michael Thomas is back, and they signed Jarvis Landry and drafted Chris Olave. We know Thomas has an injury history and Landry is an unknown. This means Marquez Callaway could receive a lot of looks this year. In the last preseason game, Callaway had four receptions for 65 yards and in a more complimentary role, he could be productive this year.

Ameer Abdullah, RB, Las Vegas Raiders

With the cutting of Kenyan Drake, there look to be three backs vying for playing time. The good thing for Ameer Abdullah is he looks to be the receiving back and in deep leagues, could be a valuable flex play. He has looked explosive in the preseason and is worthy of a stash if you have the roster space.

Don’t Fall For it

Justin Watson, WR, Kansas City Chiefs

Justin Watson has been receiving some hype in camp. He had two catches for 53 yards in his second preseason game. In the last game, he only had one catch for nine yards. Watson could very well be in the receiver rotation but I think at best he would be the fifth wide receiver and not provide consistent fantasy value.

Gerrid Doaks, RB, Miami Dolphins

Gerrid Doaks, before the 2021 season, was getting so much hype as an undrafted free agent. Mostly because of the lack of depth for the Dolphins at RB. Do not fall for his big performance in preseason game three. There are plenty of backs to take a flier on in Miami, but Doaks Is not one of them.
