NY Jets Defensive Snap Counts: Which Players Will See the Most Action in 2026?

The Jets have completely reshaped their defense under head coach Aaron Glenn and defensive coordinator Brian Duker. Anyone reviewing the New York Jets odds will notice expectations remain modest. However, the team’s defensive usage could create several valuable IDP fantasy options.

Minkah Fitzpatrick Leads the NY Jets Defense

Snap counts often predict fantasy success better than raw talent. Every-down defenders have more opportunities to pile up tackles, sacks, and turnovers throughout the season.

Minkah Fitzpatrick projects to play nearly every defensive snap in 2026. The former All-Pro becomes the centerpiece of New York’s rebuilt secondary. Aaron Glenn values versatile safeties who can disguise coverages. Fitzpatrick fits that role perfectly. He can line up deep, play in the box, or cover the slot when needed. That flexibility keeps him on the field regardless of personnel packages.

For IDP fantasy managers, Fitzpatrick offers one of the safest floors on the roster. A snap share approaching 100 percent should create steady tackle opportunities while maintaining his big-play upside. Andre Cisco also projects to play nearly every snap. Together, the two safeties could become one of the NFL’s busiest defensive tandems.

Jamien Sherwood Headlines the NY Jets Linebackers

Jamien Sherwood should lead the NY Jets linebacker room in defensive snaps.

Veteran Demario Davis brings leadership and experience. However, managing his workload throughout a 17-game season makes sense at this stage of his career.

Sherwood’s athleticism makes him the ideal every-down linebacker. His background as a converted safety allows him to stay on the field during passing situations. That role is extremely valuable in IDP leagues. Rookie Kiko Mauigoa and veteran Mykal Walker will provide depth. Neither projects to match Sherwood’s overall snap volume.

Defensive Rotation Will Limit the Pass Rush

The defensive front looks much different entering 2026. Rookie David Bailey headlines the new-look pass rush after arriving as a top draft selection. Joseph Ossai and Will McDonald IV also provide explosive edge talent. However, fantasy managers should expect heavy rotations.

Aaron Glenn has assembled multiple edge rushers to keep everyone fresh throughout games. That approach should improve the defense overall, but it limits individual snap counts. The same philosophy applies inside. T’Vondre Sweat, Harrison Phillips, David Onyemata, and several rotational linemen will split defensive snaps throughout the season.

For IDP rankings purposes, the safest investments remain the every-down players. Fitzpatrick projects to lead the defense in snap percentage. Cisco should rank close behind. Sherwood rounds out the trio as New York’s most reliable linebacker. Those three defenders offer the best combination of opportunity, consistency, and fantasy upside heading into the 2026 season.
