Who are the top-scoring IDP rookies from week 2? Check out the IDP rookie recap to see who they are and the impact that they had this week.
Each week I will do a recap of the previous week’s top-scoring IDP rookies in the NFL IDP rookie recap. The scoring for the rookies is based on the IDP Nation Listener League 2 scoring. I’ll break down the tier-one rookies (top 12 scoring rookies) and what their impact could have on your fantasy team’s rosters.
From stud rookies to the one-hit wonders, I will give you everything you need to know about the rookies you drafted or should have drafted. Let’s take a look at the top-performing rookies from week 2
Gregory Rousseau, DE, Buffalo Bills
The top-scoring IDP fantasy rookie on my IDP rookie recap for week two is Buffalo Bills defensive end Gregory Rousseau. This is his first appearance on the list this season. With 26 fantasy points scored (FPTS) he ranked second among all rookies, just behind Rondale Moore (26.9). Rousseau made his second career start, playing 49 defensive snaps (66%). He registered five tackles, three solos, two TFLs, two sacks, and two QB hits.
He was started in 55% of MyFantasyLeague.com leagues last week and that will greatly increase with matchups at home versus Washington and Houston the next two weeks. I predicted that Micah Parsons would win DROY, but Rousseau is going to give him a run for his money.
Payton Turner, DE, New Orleans Saints
The next top-scoring IDP fantasy rookie on my IDP rookie recap is also making his first appearance on this list. New Orleans Saints DE, Payton Turner, scored 25.3 FPTS, to rank third among all rookies for week two. He played in his first career game, receiving 31 of the defensive snaps (41%). Turner had a breakout performance with five tackles, four solos, three TFLs, one sack, and one QB hit. Not bad for a rookie that didn’t start hey?
He was started in 38% of MyFantasyLeague.com leagues last week and fantasy managers will be hitting the waiver wire hard looking for him. With Marcus Davenport nursing and injury, Turner is the guy you want. I’ve got to give credit to my guy @Dujay14 for being one of the first to sing his praises.
Asante Samuel Jr, CB, Las Angeles Chargers
We get our first repeat IDP fantasy rookie on my IDP rookie recap and it’s a cornerback! My dude @seahawksdan8 would love this!! Last week Asante Samuel Jr. was first on the list and this week he’s third. Who said cornerbacks weren’t worth drafting? Samuel scored 22.6 FPTS which was fourth among all rookies. He earned his second straight start, playing 60 defensive snaps (97%).
As good as he was last week, he upped his game another level in week two. Samuel Jr produced four tackles, three solos, one interception, and three PBUs. I don’t want to ever hear hate on CBs again! He was started in 61% of MyFantasyLeague.com leagues last week and that will skyrocket in week three. If you can still add him off the waiver wire, do it now before it’s too late.
Deommodore Lenoir, CB, San Francisco 49ers
The next IDP fantasy rookie on my IDP rookie recap is another CB and first-timer Deommodore Lenoir of the San Francisco 49ers. He had a breakout performance versus the Philadelphia Eagles, scoring 21.3 FPTS, which was fifth among all rookies. In his second start, Lenoir played 56 defensive snaps (97%). The rookie from Oregon tallied five tackles, four solos, and three PBUs.
Our third newcomer to the list is one who I have rostered in a lot of leagues and hopefully it’s not too late for you to do the same. He was started in 0% of MyFantasyLeague.com leagues last week, but that won’t happen again! The dude is a stud, on a team with a great supporting cast.
Nick Bolton, LB, Kansas City Chiefs
Up next on my IDP rookie recap list, is the first linebacker for the week and the second to repeat on the IDP rookie recap list. For the second week in a row, Bolton comes in at #5 on the list. He earned the start for the second straight week, playing 63 of the defensive snaps (83%). As impressive as Bolton was in week one, he was even better this week. He recorded nine tackles, eight solos, and one TFL.
It’s clear he’s the lead dawg at linebacker for the Chiefs. Bolton was started in 58% of MyFantasyLeague.com leagues last week, which is way too low! Many rookies struggle and are inconsistent, but Bolton is a set-it-and-forget-it option for your fantasy teams.
Paulson Adebo, CB, New Orleans Saints
We’re at the halfway point on my IDP rookie recap list and we have another repeat and second New Orleans Saint. The Saints’ CB Paulson Adebo has been on fire out the gate! He played 75 of the defensive snaps (99%) and was started in 51% of My Fantasy League.com leagues last week. On those snaps, Adebo would record seven tackles, six of those were solos.
Adebo graded high in my IDP blue-chip grading system and it’s translating to the NFL. Last Sunday versus the Carolina Panthers he scored 17.8 FPTS, which would rank eighth among all rookies. If you’re looking for a CB to add to your portfolios, then Adebo is a stock you’ll want to invest in.
Michael Carter, S, New York Jets
Next on my IDP rookie recap list is safety Michael Carter, of the New York Jets. This is his second appearance in back-to-back weeks as he scored 17 FPTS. That would rank him ninth among all rookies for the week. Fantasy managers started Carter in 41% of MFL.com leagues, a slight uptick over the previous week.
After a solid week one performance, he followed it up with an even better one in week two. Carter played 41 of the defensive snaps (71%), recording eight tackles, four solos, and one TFL. He’s producing a nice return for fantasy managers despite not being a starter. I added him to my IDP portfolios last week and there’s a good chance he’s still available on your waiver wire.
Patrick Surtain II, CB, Denver Broncos
As we continue with my IDP rookie recap list we get our fourth cornerback and first appearance for Patrick Surtain II of the Denver Broncos. It was just a matter of time before the sensational rookie got on the board. In his first professional start, he played all 56 of the defensive snaps (100%). Surtain II recorded four tackles, two solos, one INT, and one PBU. That equaled 15 FPTS and ranked him 11th among all rookies, based on the scoring in the IDP Nation Listener League 2.
Surtain II is super talented and this won’t be the last time we see him on the weekly IDP rookie recap. Fantasy managers started Surtain II in 32% of MFL.com leagues. If by chance he’s available on waivers, snatch him up now.
Jayson Oweh, LB, Baltimore Ravens
This is back-to-back week appearances for Jayson Oweh in my weekly IDP rookie recap. While I wasn’t high on him like many others were, he’s starting to win me over. Oweh saw an increase in snap percentage from the previous week, going from 56% to 75%. He registered three tackles, all solos, one TFL, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. That added up to 14.5 FPTS scored this week, which was 12th among all rookies.
Fantasy managers started Oweh in 41% of MFL.com leagues. I looked around in many of my leagues and to my surprise, he is still available in some places. Oweh has seven pressures (sacks, hurries, and knockdowns combined) through two weeks, which shows me he’s getting to the QB.
Nate Hobbs, CB, Las Vegas Raiders
The 10th player on my IDP rookie recap is, you guessed it, another cornerback. It’s the fifth to be exact, but the first appearance for the Raiders Nate Hobbs. Hobbs wasn’t a well-known name before the draft, but he’s making it known now. He’s impressed the coaches so much that he earned the starting slot corner job.
In week two Hobbs played 46 of the defensive snaps (82%) and produced six tackles, with four being solos. That would add up to 13.5 FPTS for the week and rank him 15th overall among rookies. Fantasy managers are still not believing him as he was not started in any MFL.com leagues. The opportunity is there for him to continue producing and fantasy managers should at least consider him as a streaming option.
Cameron Sample, DE, Cincinnati Bengals
The next to last player on my IDP rookie recap is the third defensive end to make the list this week. Cameron Sample is a Senior Bowl standout that made a solid impact in the box score after being shut out in week one. Sample received just 22 of the defensive snaps (34%) but made the most of them. On the day he recorded four tackles, three being solos, with one TFL. He ranked 17th overall among all rookies with 11.8 FPTS for the week.
Fantasy managers will have to be patient and keep him on their taxi squads for now and I want to see him string a few solid performances together before moving him up to the main roster.
Kwity Paye, DE, Indianapolis Colts
The last player on the IDP rookie recap, but certainly not least is Indianapolis Colts star rookie DE Kwity Paye. This is Paye’s second appearance on the list, as he was seventh last week. This week Paye scored 11.3 FPTS which ranks him 18th among all rookies for the week. He played 41 of the defensive snaps (69%) for the Colts.
On those snaps, he tallied five tackles, with four being solos. I expect Paye to be on this list every week, but there could be the occasional miss. Fantasy managers started Paye in 52% of MFL.com leagues this week.
Summary
This concludes the rookie recap for this week! I’ll be back next week with week two results, as we begin to see these rookies and others get more acclimated to the league. With that, I expect the fantasy points scored (FPTS) to begin to climb up. Will next week be the same names or will there be a new group of faces on the list? Either way, I’ll be here to break it all down for you and give you all the information you need to make the right decisions for your fantasy teams.
