Q: In week 5, we saw Rashid Shaheed break an NFL record of running over 21 mph against the G Men. Even after the improvements in the draft, how is this Giants secondary still lackluster?

It’s hard to argue with the results — the Giants secondary has been a major disappointment. Nearly $100 million invested and multiple high draft picks later, they’re still blowing coverages, missing angles, and racking up penalties. Fundamentals and discipline just aren’t there right now.

Q: The Browns run D has been insanely good with their new rookies Mason Graham & Carson Schwesinger. However, it’s become more pass funnel as of late. Between their star players Denzel Ward & Grant Delpit, what’s been going on here?

Cleveland is 30th in yards per game, 30th in points per game, 23rd in first downs per game, have a rookie quarterback under center and are not a good offense. Even the best secondary with the greatest stars can’t hold up under that pressure every game. The dam breaks eventually. Surprisingly, their run defense has held up well despite those issues but there’s a reason coaches want their offense to sustain drives and give their defense a rest whenever possible. Yes, Delpit is great but Ward isn’t having a great year according to PFF and Myles Harden has been playing for about five minutes so there are weaknesses in that secondary. With that being the weaker aspect of their defense, opposing coaching staffs see that and exploit it so the trend continues week after week.

Your Broncos have been playing great football so far, but just lost star CB Pat Surtain for a few weeks. How does the team keep the momentum up going into the second half of the season & who should IDP fantasy managers keep an eye on?

The pec injury he suffered is not bad enough to have him go on IR. He should just miss a couple games. We are lucky enough to get Houston this week and the Raiders next week. They are the #14 and #29 teams ranked in points given up to opposing CBs. Kris Abrams-Draine stepped in for Surtain and in under 50% of the snaps, posted 9 tackles. He had two substantial games as a rookie last year in snaps in weeks 15 and 16 which held up nice; 7 tackles, 2 passes defended, and 1 interception. Also in play will be rookie 1st round pick Jahdae Barron who got his first interception last week against Dak Prescott. With the pressure the Broncos get on opposing QBs, there should not be much drop off in these next two games. However, if the injury keeps Surtain out 3 weeks, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs might give us trouble. Lucky for us, the game is in Denver.
