Linebackers are one of the most important positions to get right in IDP fantasy leagues and IDP Rankings. Let’s talk about the top three IDP Linebacker tiers!
Right now, it feels like the linebacker position is the deepest from top to bottom it has been in years. They are the backbone of IDP and the position group boasts some of the most coveted players in all of football. Getting this position right for your teams is pivotal, and unpacking IDP Linebacker tiers is a great way to start!
This list values expected production more so than untapped potential. Linebackers have been playing longer, thirty years and older doesn’t necessarily mean a decline in usage or production as we see guys like Bobby Wagner (who led the league in tackles). Heck, C.J. Mosley is still being mentioned with some of the top names at linebacker.

Tier One is where you find the linebackers your team should be built around. When I think of the complete linebacker I think of Fred Warner, the latest prototype for elite linebacker prospects to imitate. Warner will rack up tackles but he also had career highs in interceptions and forced fumbles this year. Guys like Azeez Al-Shaair, Ernest Jones, and Terrel Benard are the future of the position, however, as they are also all producing at high levels now while entering the beginning of their prime years.
All three players finished among the top 12 in total tackles this season. Roquan Smith is an absolute game-wrecker and the heart of the Ravens’ defense. He just had his second-highest career tackle total with 158, and at 26 years old I could see him finishing the year as the highest-scoring linebacker next year with a second full offseason with the Ravens.
