Having a QB1 in football is great but having one of the five best dynasty quarterbacks is even better. Who are the top five?
Most dynasty fantasy football leagues are superflex. So, grabbing a quarterback early is the best course of action to take. There is an argument for at least seven quarterbacks to be in the top five of dynasty quarterbacks, but the magic number is five.
5. Lamar “Action” Jackson
Lamar Jackson is this generation’s Micahel Vick and there is no denying that. Jackson unanimously won the 2019 NFL MVP award, joining the GOAT, Tom Brady, as the only player to accomplish that. It is no coincidence TB told Jackson “you’re next”.
Jackson missed the last four games of the 2021 season due to an ankle injury. He will likely be at the end of the first round in start-up drafts. So, you should be able to draft him and a star position player with the second pick.
A reminder that Lamar Jackson was on pace for 4000 passing yards and 1000 rushing yards before getting hurt.

What Jackson lacks in the throwing department, he makes up for it in the rushing department. He is not a bad passer, but it is one of the very few things he needs to work on. Jackson is 12th on the all-time list for single-season best QB ratings.
With that being said, Jackson is the most valuable player in the NFL and ranks as the number five dynasty quarterback.
4. Justin Herbert
All the way from rainy Oregon down to sunny Los Angeles, Justin Herbert — the boy wonder — is special. From a fantasy perspective, there is not much better than Herbert when it comes to putting points on the board.
This past season, he finished as the QB2 in fantasy football. With the offense not moving anywhere (besides potentially Mike Williams), the Chargers have other weapons that can fill the role.
The Chargers have one of the most pass-happy friendly offenses. Having missed the 2021 playoffs, playoffs, Herbert threw SIXTY-FOUR passes in the regular season. More passes made — and completed — always leads to fantasy points.

Herbert has the third-most passing yards since entering the league in 2020. With his big 6’6 frame, “Herby fully loaded” will be around a long time and might even be the overall dynasty QB1.
3. Joe “Money” Burrow
Joe Burrow threw for 60 touchdowns in his senior season at LSU. He was drafted first overall in 2020 and was looking great until an ACL tear cut his rookie season short. A season later, Joe MONEY — the comeback player of the year award winner, AFC North Division Champion, and AFC Champion — has been on a tear.
The Bengals were criticized for not taking Penei Sewell. Instead, they chose to draft Burrow’s college receiver, Ja’Marr Chase, and the rest has been one hell of a show to watch.
With Chase and fellow WR Tee Higgins, Burrow reached new heights this year. All three are under their rookie contracts till 2025. With an offense loaded with weapons, Burrow is a must-have in dynasty football.

A quarterback’s offensive weapons can be a major factor in what that QB can produce, but Burrow is big-time regardless. Having Higgins and Chase sets the Bengals and Burrow up for a historic run for seasons to come.
2. Patrick Mahomes
There is not much to say about this man. His name speaks for itself. Mahomes was labeled as the next best thing after his very first season being a starting quarterback. With good reason, as he threw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns.
Since then, Mahomes won a Super Bowl, lost another one, and lost in the AFC championship game this past season. Regardless, he is still one of the two best quarterbacks in the NFL. Mahomes has the third most touchdowns since 2020, behind Tom Brady (retired) and Aaron Rodgers.

With Andy Reid leading the play calling and Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill still on the team, Mahomes will continue to be one of the first three quarterbacks taken in drafts. What makes him number two — and not one — is because of the rushing ability Allen has.
1. Josh Allen
Allen is a mixture of Cam Newton and Ben Roethlisberger, but WAY better. In the past two seasons, Josh Allen has thrown for over 35 touchdowns and 4,400 yards. Since entering the NFL in 2018, he has had the 10th most rushing touchdowns.
An MVP award is in his near future, as Allen is too good to not win at least one. He has finished the overall QB1 in fantasy football back-to-back seasons, earning the title of “King of the Dynasty Quarterbacks.”

According to fantasypros.com, Allen is the dynasty QB1 and it shall remain so until someone knocks him off the throne.
