College football season has begun! See who my top three IDP Devy Stock Market investments are.

The 2021 college football season is here! Week 1 is now in the books and it’s time for college fantasy leagues to officially begin. You’re likely finishing your drafts and are looking for possible stocks trending upward. Maybe you need to know which IDP players you can move for a high return. I’m here to help you diversify your fantasy portfolios and get the maximum return on your investments.

Each week, I’ll give you three players’ stocks that are trending up and three that are trending down. To open the season, let’s dig into three of my favorite IDP Devy stock market buy-low stocks for the 2021 season.

Tyler Grubbs, LB, Louisiana Tech

The best time to invest in a player is before the rest of the world becomes aware. And Tyler Grubbs is a player that you must add to your IDP portfolios. 2020 was the first time for the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Grubbs. If you were wise enough to make an initial investment, you saw a really good return.

In ten games as a true freshman, he recorded 99 tackles, had 9 or more tackles in 8 games, and added 9.5 tackles for a loss. Grubbs finished the season ranked second in C-USA and 25th in the FBS in tackles per game at 9.9. This type of return would earn him Freshman All-American honors by several outlets.

Surprisingly, after such a great freshman season, he’s not getting the praise he would get at a Power 5 school. It’s just like buying name brands when you can buy off-brands at a much cheaper price for the same quality.

Grubbs will rank among the nation’s leaders in tackles again and will provide a good number of impact plays (TFLs, PBUs, etc). He’s being drafted super late and can even be found on waivers in some leagues. This makes him the perfect buy-low, high-reward investment option. Grubbs is a great plug-and-play option that will outperform some of the bigger names in college football.

Investors could have up to three years of returns from Grubbs for their IDP Devy teams.

Cade Hall, DE, San Jose State

Next is the DE Cade Hall of San Jose State. Hall is a stock that has been available for three years, but it wasn’t until 2020 that he produced a big return. Hall is a perfect example of a buy-low stock where patient investors are now yielding a high return on their investment.

In a Covid-19 shortened season, Hall had a breakout year. He would win MWC Defensive Player of the Year honors and finish 2nd in the nation in sacks (12). Over his three seasons at San Jose State, he has improved his sack totals from 4.5 to 8 to 12. Despite that type of breakout, he was a highly overlooked investment.

Not all stocks produce instant returns, as some are more long-term options. Lately, Hall has been impressively trending up and the investment value is still at an acceptable price. Hall will be among the nation’s leaders in sacks again and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the overall leader. His competition and schedule are very favorable for him to do just that.

Surprisingly, Hall is another waiver wire gem. Or at the very least, he is a minimal investment option for your IDP fantasy portfolios. Hall’s maximum value is in leagues where sacks are scored at a premium. I love his value in Campus 2 Canton leagues where his future returns are potentially high. If he stays on his current upward trend, there is a chance for a huge cash-out option.

Brandon Joseph, DB, Northwestern

Last but certainly not least is safety Brandon Joseph of Northwestern. His name may sound familiar, as he led the nation in interceptions with six, earning consensus All-American honors.

With that type of breakout, Joseph’s stock will surely begin to rise. So now is the time to invest while you can still maximize your return. Joseph has experience at both the cornerback and free safety positions. That means he’s a versatile chess piece when called upon. Unlike the first two stocks on this list, Joseph is a more popular stock option, but the investment value still makes sense.

As a stockholder, you have potentially up to three years before you have to decide whether you want to keep him for NFL rosters or you want to sell your shares. With another big season like last year, Joseph’s value will double. That means a lot more investors will be interested in acquiring shares of him. Joseph is a ballhawk who will give you a good amount of INTs and PBUs, which is the benefit of rostering him.
