Nakobe Dean (LB) Philadelphia Eagles
Injury: Abdomen Injury
Injury Date: 12/22/2024
Expected Recovery Time: 2-4 weeks
Player to Target: LB Zack Baun, S Reed Blankenship
Let’s kick off this NFL Week 17 injuries article with an injury to one of the better young defensive players in the league. Eagles inside linebacker Nakobe Dean finally was able to stay on the field this season and show he can be a solid starter in the NFL. He is the team’s second-leading tackler and has played in all 15 games this season. Unfortunately, the injury bug has hit him again as Dean is officially doubtful for this week. Thankfully, this is likely only a short absence for the Eagles LB.
Dean picked up an injury to his abdomen last week while having an impressive 12-tackle game. With only one limited practice this week, it looks like the injury will cause him to miss this week’s game against Dallas. On the bright side, the fact he was able to practice this week at all makes it likely he will be healthy enough to play next week. Abdominal injuries when minor typically only result in 1-2 games missed. The obvious choice to replace some of Dean’s production is his running mate LB Zack Baun who is having a career year. I also expect the Eagles to play more three safety sets and use S Reed Blankenship down in the box more this week.
