Three weeks of NFL football have given IDP managers something valuable: actual usage data. Snap counts, injuries, and early production can now replace many preseason projections. Week 4 gives managers another opportunity to react before roles become firmly established.

The early season also begins separating legitimate contenders from struggling teams. Reviewing Super Bowl bets can provide broader context about expectations across the league. For IDP managers, however, individual matchups and defensive roles remain more important when setting weekly lineups.

Brian Burns Injury Creates Opportunity for Arvell Reese

The New York Giants suffered a major defensive loss when Brian Burns tore his ACL against Tennessee. Burns will miss the remainder of the season, leaving New York without one of its premier pass rushers. That injury could create additional opportunities for rookie Arvell Reese. The fifth overall selection has already demonstrated his ability to produce tackles at the NFL level. Reese recorded a double-digit tackle performance during his third professional start.

His versatility makes the situation particularly interesting for IDP managers. Reese can contribute as an off-ball linebacker while also creating pressure from the edge. Additional pass-rushing opportunities could increase his potential for sacks and tackles for loss. Managers should monitor how New York replaces Burns during Week 4. Reese’s snap count and defensive alignment could reveal whether his fantasy ceiling has increased.

Lukas Van Ness Is Becoming a Week 4 IDP Fantasy Football Breakout

Lukas Van Ness entered the season needing to prove he could turn potential into consistent production. Three games into 2026, the early results are encouraging. Van Ness has recorded three sacks through his first three games. His performance against the Jets included 1.5 sacks and four quarterback hits. More importantly, his impact has extended beyond simply rushing the passer.

Van Ness has shown improvement against the run while consistently creating pressure. That combination could help stabilize his weekly fantasy floor. IDP managers should now view Van Ness as more than a speculative breakout candidate. His early production deserves attention, especially in leagues that reward sacks and tackles for loss.

Week 4 Matchups Create Defensive Back Value

Defensive back production can be difficult to predict. Unlike high-volume linebackers, safeties and cornerbacks often depend heavily on matchups and offensive tendencies.

That makes Week 4 an interesting opportunity for managers willing to stream the position. Chicago safety Dillon Thieneman faces the New York Jets this week. Jacksonville safety Andrew Wingard draws the New York Giants. Both players enter matchups that could create useful tackle opportunities. Their respective defensive roles should also keep them involved near the football.

Managers should avoid chasing defensive backs based solely on previous fantasy totals. Snap percentage, alignment, and opponent tendencies can provide better indicators of weekly opportunity. Week 4 provides another chance to identify those trends before the rest of your league reacts.
