“By now, most people know what number they have on the board and who they’ll likely be drafting in the first round or so. Sometimes, those mid-to-late rounds can be tricky.”
We’re midway through the Preseason, and Opening Night will be here before you know it. This is the point of the year when most fantasy managers are preparing for their redraft leagues. By now, most people know what number they have on the board and who they’ll likely be drafting in the first round or so. Sometimes, those mid-to-late rounds can be tricky. Unsure of who to pick going into the second half of your draft? Here are some late-round fantasy options for you to consider:
Jakobi Meyers
The Las Vegas Raiders will very likely not make the playoffs this season, but they should be fun to watch. A new Head Coach in Pete Carroll, will definitely shed some light on this team. If there’s one thing we know about Pete Carroll, it’s that he loves to run the football. So it’s no surprise the Raiders drafted Running Back Ashton Jeanty with the sixth overall pick in this year’s Draft. Carroll has also reunited with former Seahawks QB Geno Smith.
Along with Brock Bowers, Jeanty is going within the first two rounds of fantasy drafts per Sleeper ADP. We should see some production from these two, but they aren’t the only ones on the team who will be given targets. Last season, Jakobi Meyers had over 1,000 receiving yards. He may have only scored four TDs, but that was with bad QBs and a rookie Bowers.
Now, Meyers is in a better offense with a better coach, and Smith is the best QB he’s been able to ball with. He’s being drafted as a WR3/flex and is very much considered a late round fantasy option.
Evan Engram
One team that surprised many last season was the Denver Broncos. I think it’s safe to say they’ll continue to exceed expectations. Bo Nix proved to be the team’s Quarterback for the foreseeable future, throwing for over 3,700 yards & 29 Touchdowns in his rookie season. Earlier this summer, the Broncos extended Courtland Sutton after another season with over 1,000 receiving yards & a career high in targets.
Just this week, they traded former rookie Wide Receiver Devaughn Vele to the Saints in exchange for picks. Last season, he and former rookie, now former teammate Troy Franklin, would switch out of the WR3 position in Denver. In the end, Vele had more targets, receiving yards, and Touchdowns. Now, Franklin will have to battle out that spot with the new rookie Wide Receiver Pat Bryant.
While the WR3 is being sorted out, the Broncos have potentially found their Tight End in Evan Engram. Now on his third team, going into his ninth season, Engram should see plenty of targets from Bo Nix. Marvin Mims may be the team’s WR2 after his performance last season. However, with Engram now on the team, Sean Payton is more likely to use the veteran player. Miss out on a star Tight End in earlier rounds? Consider Evan Engram as one of many late-round fantasy options.
