Jalen Pitre (S) Houston Texans

Injury: Partial Pec Tear
Injury Date: 11/24/2024
Expected Recovery Time: 4-6 weeks
Player to Target: S Jimmie Ward

Let’s kick off this NFL Week 13 injuries article with an injury that is thankfully not as bad as it originally seemed. Third-year safety Jalen Pitre was challenged with a change of position this season as he moved down into the box as the team’s nickel back. It’s safe to say he stepped up to the challenge as he is currently the second-leading tackler on the team. Unfortunately, he picked up an injury early in the game last week and was quickly ruled out with a pec injury.

Like most players who are ruled out of the game immediately, there was concern Pitre suffered a significant injury. In this case, there was fear that he suffered a full Grade 3 pec tear which would have ended his season. Fortunately, an MRI showed that he only suffered a partial pec tear and he will return this season. This injury typically comes with a 4-6 week recovery timeline, meaning he will be out this week. The veteran safety Jimmie Ward slots in for Pitre and has shown to be a capable tackler this season. Look for Ward to see an uptick in production as he will need to be relied on this week.
