We wish you a Merry DFS Christmas, we wish you a Merry DFS Christmas… It’s Week 8 and it is DFS Christmas. A full 13-game slate to play with is under the tree this week. Week 8 is the first time since Week 2 and the last time until at least the as-yet unscheduled Week 18 that we get a maxed-out slate for DFS. With all these potential toys to play with, let’s start tearing into the presents!eek 7 DFS Fantasy Football.
Top Week 8 DFS Fantasy Football Picks
Quarterback
Quarterback this week is a Tale of Two Sites. On FanDuel, I’m riding the returning Tua Tagovailoa ($7000, 11.7% of available salary on FD; $6100, 12.2% of available salary on DraftKings). He’s back to inject some life into the moribund Dolphins offense. It’s a great spot to return to, as well. Arizona is one of the worst defenses in the league and has to travel across country to play in an early window game on short rest. He wasn’t off to a great start to the season before the brain injury took him out, but this is a pillow-soft matchup and his mere presence should be rocket fuel for the rest of the Phins skill players.
Over on DK, Tua is $100 more than my “In-a-Vacuum” favorite QB play this week, Caleb Williams ($7400 FD, $6000 DK), so I’ll use the coupon. After a (brutally) slow start, he was averaging 262.5 yards and 2.25 TDs per game in the last four games before Chicago’s post-London bye week. Washington will be a step-up in competition for the Bears (imagine saying that back in August…), but with the bye to consolidate, I think Williams is up to the task. The hard part is figuring out which stack partner to pair in tournaments. D.J. Moore ($6600 both sites) is certainly in play, but Rome Odunze ($5500 FD, $5100 DK) and a now-healthy Keenen Allen ($6400 FD, $5800 DK) provide lower price-point pivots.
Running Back Week 7 DFS Fantasy Football
In cash games this week, I’m smashing David Montgomery ($8000 FD, $6400 DK). Tennessee has a formidable run defense, but with the Lions being double-digit home favorites, this game sets up as a Montgomery close-out special. The knee injury he suffered last week appears to have been nothing more than a brief scare. Montgomery’s lack of pass game involvement limits his upside for tournaments, but his production floor in this game environment and sub-prime salary makes him an ideal cash game play.
Everything is setting up perfectly for a Javonte Williams ($6000 both sites) smash game this week. He blew up against an undermanned Saints team last Thursday and now gets a similarly undermanned Panthers team at home. With the “mini-bye” to rest up and Bryce Young providing “competition”, expect Williams to get all the touches he can handle.
Wide Receiver
This week is all about Tyreek Hill. With Tua (see above) back in the lineup, an ideal matchup, and literal once in a lifetime pricing ($7600 FD, $7000 DK), he’ll never be a more attractive option. There will be two concerns with him, though. First, his ownership this week is going to be through the roof so you’ll need to game out whether you want to roster him in tournaments. Second, he popped up with a mid-week foot injury and Friday DNP tag, so you’ll need to be vigilant to his game day injury status on Sunday.
You’ll have multiple attractive pay down options this week for tournaments. Jalen McMillan ($4900 FD, $3700 DK) and Cedric Tillman ($5100 FD, $3300 DK) will be stepping into or continuing their starting roles, respectively. Tillman’s DK price is especially attractive considering he saw 12 targets last week and has mad bomber Jameis Winston as his full-time QB.
Tight End
What is up with the Dalton Kincaid ($4000) pricing on FanDuel this week? How is a starting Tight End in the Buffalo offense stone minimum priced? Yeah, he’s been a disappointment so far, and yeah, he’s nursing a collarbone injury, but he was full go in practice this week and played through it and had a season-high in receiving yards last week. He’s also fine on DK ($4900), but his cash game ownership on FD might push 100%.
If you feel the need to fade Kincaid (nasty rhyme alert!), you can look to Mark Andrews ($5600 FD, $4000 DK). He’s back to being a regular part of the Ravens offense (13 targets in the last four games) and went off (5 for 80 with 2 TDs) the last time Baltimore visited Cleveland.
Defense
There are multiple attractive options at Defense this week (Detroit vs. Tennessee, Denver vs. Bryce Young and Carolina, Kansas City vs. turnover machine Gardner Minshew and Las Vegas), but they’re all spendy. If you’re looking for a mid-priced option to fill out your lineup, the Houston Texans ($4100 FD, $3100 DK) are the play. They get Indianapolis at home this week. In their Week 1 meeting, Houston dominated play (26 first downs to 14), but gave up two 50+ yard touchdown passes. That’s unsustainable production and Anthony Richardson is always a turnover waiting to happen.
