Week 4 IDP Start or Sit

No matter how your season has started, week 4 can be pivotal to keep and/or get you on track. Let’s dive into some of the best and scariest plays as we head into spooky season.

Are you 0-3? Hey it’s alright, I am too in some leagues… Oh? You’re 3-0? Nice work, let’s keep that up! No matter how you have started, the season is far from over. We are one-sixth of the way through, basically just into March of a calendar year. That may seem intimidating, but hey, we still have five-sixths to go! Your horrid start does not mean you are buried. And your great starts do not mean you are locked into the playoffs (I finished last in a league despite starting 6-0 a few years back). We have data that is starting to really take form now. We can see matchups to tackle (see what I did there?) or avoid. With that, let’s get into the 4th week of the season! Who are some great sneaky plays? Some recent breakouts who may have their roll slowed? We also have a fan favorite who is primed to take the leap to an IDP Superstar.

Disclaimers! In this series, we will not name the stars like Myles Garrett and Roquan Smith (unless something causes one to be a sit). I will also do my best to avoid an absurdly deep cut former prospect that I love (if you follow the RoD PoD, you know I can tend to do this!) In this series I will be basing picks off of a balanced scoring system (like the IDP+ Invitational, which also boosts DTs and CBs to even their production out), to cover as many bases as possible! Please also note that mentions of previous finishes/points allowed comes from the IDP+ data suite. If you have a more complex league scoring system, these suggestions may serve as a baseline. Start: DT Maliek Collins, San Francisco 49ers vs New England Patriots

Every season we find matchups where you can just auto-start an opponent. In week 2 Leonard Williams was DT2 overall. In week 3, Quinnen Williams was DT10, despite having played only 52% of snaps, leaving early in a blowout. New England in on their way to becoming an auto-start for DTs now. Collins has been DT41 this season (also where he is projected by MFL this week, conveniently), but has a great chance to explode. The matchup is elite and Javon Hargrave may miss the season, giving Collins the clear DT1 role for San Francisco. Even with a healthy Hargrave, Collins out-snapped him in weeks 1 and 2. He may not end up as a top-10 DT, but should easily be better than a DT4.

Last week: Devonte Wyatt, Green Bay Packers at Tennessee Titans. Finished with 32 points (IDPI scoring). 2 sacks, 3 solo tackles with 2 for loss. DT1 overall last week!!

Sit: DT Bryan Bresee, New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons
